"AVOID AT ALL COST"

2.0

Dirty, rude reception staff. The bungalow was more like a prison cell. Well a prison cell would be better maintained 😂 complaints went on deaf ears. Bedding never changed the whole 7 days we stayed. The restaurant was like feeding time at the ZOO! Only thing the hotel has going for it is the beach.

"Worst hotel experience ever, do not waste you time and money"

2.0

Just got back from a week staying here and it is the worst holiday I have ever had. The staff are rude and unhelpful, the food is awful and has been contaminated by all the locals sticking their hand in it, the buffet seating area was constantly dirty with tables often just left with leftover food on and the hotel itself is falling apart. Firstly, we were checking in late at night (around 2330) and as soon as we got to the reception there was instant confusion on what was going on. We finally figured out that we had to pay the tax at the next window then come back to reception which was a faff in itself. When we got the keys we were told one of the staff will show us where to go and upon arriving at the room he waited for a tip which made it very awkward as we had no money and he had only done his job. As we was walking down to the room there was groups of men just hanging about outside blocks which was unsettling. Once the staff left we realised how inhabitable the room actually was as it was filthy and had things falling apart such as the bed frame and curtains. There was also ants crawling around so it was clearly infested (block 58). We then went back up to reception to complain and the staff who gave us the keys started laughing as he knew we would complain. They kept trying to get us to stay one night but we refused so they finally let us view a room in a block much closer to the main buildings (block 23). This room was better but not what is advertised on the listing or to any good standard. We finally went to sleep at 0100. The next day we woke up and headed to breakfast and found the options were limited to foods such as rice, vegetables, hard boiled eggs, omelette, pastries and toast. We ate the same thing for breakfast every day as it was the only thing we could eat. We saw the locals constantly touch the food with their hands and put it back which was off putting. Once we had our food we went outside to find a table to find that most if not all had leftover plates still on them or the plates had been removed but the tables had not been cleaned. At breakfast we would rarely see any staff cleaning up. At lunch the food was no better, I lived off rice and pasta most days which I seasoned with salt to give it some flavour. You had the same problem with finding a clean table but if you topped a waiter then they would have a table ready for you that had actually been wiped (still not good enough though) and would give you a cold drink rather than a room temp one. One day we came back to the room to find that our air-con remote had been taken so we went to reception and we was told somebody will come at 2300 but they came at 0000 when we had given up waiting and gone to bed as we were tired. They woke us up to try a remote which wouldn’t work then struggled to get back to sleep. We then the rest of the holiday without a remote as reception weren’t bothered. The same day, we came back to find a handbag had been moved and been in as it wasn’t how we left it. Unfortunately we do not know how much was in the bag to say whether anything was taken but we can imagine so as another holiday maker had £500 stolen the day before we left. Our friends also had a snickers stolen from their room. Every day we came back to the room there was either no towels or only one bath towel for two of us, not even a hand towel, so we had to go to reception every day to get towels and we were told that somebody will bring them but on two occasions nobody showed up so we had to use our dirty beach towels. I was poorly one night in the room and I asked my friend to bring me some water as you get them from reception and she was told they didn’t have any. After ten minutes of refusing to move they miraculously found a bottle (room temp of course). The sun-beds are uncomfortable plastic things and you have to pay 5 Dinah a day for a sun-bed cushion. These mustn’t be cleaned as they are often sticky and mucky. The pool bar only serves coffee, fizzy drinks and water. They don’t have ice and the drinks aren’t always cold. They serve the drinks in kids party cups too so you have to get two or three to just have a normal drink. If you want alcohol you have to walk to the main lobby every time. There is only one bar on a night and they stop serving alcohol at around 2100 telling people they have ran out which shouldn’t be a thing at an all inclusive anyways but if you tip them they, somehow, find more alcohol for you. The general cleanliness of the hotel is poor, there are cigarette butts everywhere and empty plastic cups, overflowing bins, food all over the buffet seating area. There was a lot of locals at the hotel when we were which is more than fine but they would get multiple plates each, stacked with food and only eat half of it before getting it everywhere and leaving it on the table. They touch all the food with their hands and push in queues for food which got long due to the lack of options and the amount put out at once and they would roll their eyes and pull faces at you when you told them to get to the back of the line.

"Awful holiday from hell"

2.0

Awful experience from start to finish! I’ve stayed in basic hotels before! But this wasn’t just basic, it was dirty, and falling to bits. This is not the rooms that’s advertised on your site. On arrival, the reception staff was rude and very slow! It was late in the evening so just wanted to get to our room. But they told us to eat and then they will take us. 3, 50+ ladies, 2 with mobility issues! I requested a low floor which we got. But walking in the room it was shocking 2 singles pushed together, and a bunk bed. Dirty bedding, lampshades with chewing gum on, bathroom was unbearable with mold everywhere, no toilet seat, dirty everywhere. I could have cried. Saw there was no towels! Security said he’d fetch some. But I thought before he left I’d look in wardrobe where insects was crawling all over! And found 3 dirty wet towels. So obviously the room hadn’t been cleaned nor checked. So we had to walk back to reception to request another room. Bare in mind, mobility issues a long walk no ramps!!! Yes they gave us another room which was on second floor! But too tired and pained to change again. This room was just as bad if not worse in a lot of places. Again no towels so security fetched some which were damp! But thought by this point what the hell. We was all shattered and thought sleep on it and go reception in morning. But having spoke to people around the complex everyone was having the same issue. So guessing all rooms must be the same. Food was awful, exactly the same, no change over! Food stations dirty! Tables absolutely dirty, place mats never got washed! Drinks appalling. You have to more or less wait for plates or cutlery or fight like the rest of the mobs that fought like animals. Because obviously there wasn’t enough to go around but looking at most of the tables some people was having 20 plates full of food! And waste it. We had to eat out in the end. Because it was getting that bad in there. We was never given a al carte voucher but was told we not missing anything Alcohol and juices no diet drinks one of our guest being diabetic and when questioned about it! They said she can drink water. All drinks in plastic cups If you was lucky to get a glass! We’d save it in our room. Most drinks run out 8/9pm unless it was wine, no cocktails. I asked for one they looked at me gone out. Made me something that tasted like syrup. I could go on further but if you not put off by now you crazy!!! We not fuzzy people at all, we take it on the chin. But for an all inclusive holiday it’s naff! No fridge, kettle or a bottle of water in the room. Took 3 days for us to get towels when they took our dirty ones, that we had to use our beach towel. 6 times we had to ask at reception on 6th they decided to leave 1 on the floor outside our room, yes 1 for 3 people. I sent a email to the hotel, because reception wasn’t helpful and took the manager till Sunday bare in mind we arrived Tues. to try and help! Offering change of room, which we wasn’t going to do because we had 2 nights left and god knows what room we’d get! Having had 2 already. They said they’d put a mini fridge in the room diet drinks, bottle of vodka. Because one of us could only drink diet and they didn’t have any at hotel and the drinks running out at 8. Guess what they didn’t even do this till Monday afternoon and we left Tues and they wanted us to be thankful. I know this is long but people need to know!!!!!!! This hotel is not a 3+ I wouldn’t even give it a 1 dining staff are hard working but not enough of them to keep on it and clearing and cleaning tables in time for guests. Big time disaster and having booked with love holidays every year for around 12+ years won’t be doing again!!! And no excuse they rely on the hotels to give recent photos. Having all bad reviews they should know something is truly wrong here…….. also their public toilets in reception and pool are always flooded no toilet roll! And faeces all over!!! Some pics from first room some from second! Unfortunately some didn’t save in my phone but you get the idea. Pics don’t do it justice

"Nice weather, nice beach and nice staff but rude north african holidaymakers"

4.0

El Mouradi hotels club selima On arrival, the receptionist was friendly and helpful. On changing our money, again the chap was friendly and helpful, albeit quite vague in explaining what we needed to do. We were told that check in was from 1400 hrs which meant a two hour wait, news to us. Meanwhile, a couple of holiday makers who'd arrived a couple of days prior, told us of the lack of food choice and bustle at mealtimes, also to watch our bags. Very shortly after, the helpful chap at reception gave us keys to a 'good room' with a balcony. We found it easy enough and settled in. Despite being told of filthy rooms  with broken fitments, ours was presentable and clean enough (we have travelled before) although one of the towel rails had come off and was lodged askew the toilet roll holder. The door to our balcony (ground floor) latched but failed to lock. One has to keep expectations tempered as to what you pay for. We paid for three star and this was three star accommodation. No towels in the room, one soap, one shower gel, one shampoo and one small roll of toilet paper, a quick word with the kind housekeeping staff and this was rectified. We were told prior to travelling that tipping is a standard thing. We gave the nice lady a tip as a thank you which paid dividends, as later that day we had clean bed sheets, more paper, more soap, a bath mat and hand towels, even the floor was mopped! Dinner time - the advice received earlier was actually pretty accurate. No system for queues or service seemed to prevail. We took the 'when in Rome' attitude and joined the melee! Now, I don't expect to go to Tunisia and have a traditional English menu on offer, however, a mild compromise, considering the percentage of North European clientele, would have been nice. There was pizza available but even Tesco's cheapest would have made this taste bland. Many trays with who-knows-what in them on offer, as long as you like lots of chilli/garlic/pepper - I certainly don't. Three days in and bread roll with fish started to become monotonous. Oh and nut allergies obviously aren't a thing in Tunisia - beware if you're vulnerable! All inclusive drinks - just one small bar in the whole complex gave out a very limited choice of spirits, and just one pump which gave some kind of beer/lager served in a small disposable cup. there's one other bar near the beach but this is soft drinks only. Again, small disposable cups. The bar staff  favoured locals even if you were already queuing, unless you tipped well, but this didn't always count though, especially if you're female. 'he who shouts loudest' The beach - it was nice with clear warm water. If you want a sun lounger, the standard 'get your towel down early' applies. The sand is nice and soft but has a disgusting heavy mix of cigarette butts. Smoking related diseases doesn't seem to have reached Tunisia yet, as all local clientele smoke - everywhere.  you're continually in a drift of cigarette smoke anywhere you go on the complex, yes, even indoors! Poolside - Around the pool was ok provided you're content with several music choices all playing at once around you. Plenty of  loungers available, once you find one which isn't broken. Toilets around the place never had paper and were usually flooded. The main pool attendant was very courteous and upbeat. Connection - Extremely limited mobile phone signal seems to be available, despite coughing up for extra roaming charge. This we'll need to take up with our provider. There is WiFi available, however it's weak and centered around reception. Outside - many we spoke to, had sourced food from outside (due to the food choices within) via an app or taking a taxi to the harbour where there's plenty of choice. Generally, it's visible that the maintenance team are stretched and have limited resources. The place is letting down the staff (there are some really good ones) and needs to broaden it's vision. I will not be returning.

"Honestly absolutely disgusting"

2.0

1 word fits this hotel, DISGUSTING. We arrived earlier than check in to be ignored or spoken to like dirt, we had to argue with the cashier to get a receipt for the money we exchanged, he didn't want to give us one. we eventually got a room at 4pm, before we could even go to the room we were called back and it was changed, The room we we given was dirty, the aircon hardly worked, the curtain over the door was hanging off the rail, the TV didn't work, no fridge, no WiFi, the bathroom was filthy and smelled of urine, it still had wet towels and floor mat from the previous person, the shower only worked if the bath was running and if you tried to press the lever it flew out with the water pressure and created a spray that flooded the bathroom. We were given 1 bath towel and 1 face towel to share, when I asked for my own towels I was told they had none, I eventually got towels but they were far from clean. We had to argue for clean towels during our whole stay and in our 10 days they didn't change the beds at all. The restaurant was totally disgusting, it was like an animal farm feeding frenzy, the tables were covered in piles of wasted food and dirty plates, the food itself was barely edible, luke warm and contaminated with whatever was at the side of it due to the same utensils being used across all the dishes, no food was catered towards other nationalities despite there being a range of people there. You were given 1 small bottle of fizzy pop at your table, if you didn't finish the bottle it was taken off you and poured into another bottle to give to a different table. They even took the drinks off children. All inclusive means everything is included, unfortunately this hotel and staff don't seem to understand that. The bar was a total joke, 1 pump for lager for the whole hotel, everything served in small flimsy plastic cups. Wifi was only available in the bar and if you were lucky it reached reception area, the wifi itself was useless and barely stayed connected long enough to send messages or make a call. This hotel does not cater to people from the UK as whenever you try to speak to the staff there regarding any type of problem the response was 'I don't understand English' I have been to tunisia 7 times, different areas, different hotels and I have never felt as unwelcome or unsafe as I did at this hotel.

"Dirty rooms but hotel overall okay"

6.0

We were initially given a very dirty room for the first night, makeup smeared all over the sides, sopping wet floors, stained sheets, no shower curtain or way to hold the shower up, and no bulbs in the lights. After waiting 4 hours longer than we were told for a new room we were put in a much cleaner room, but still very outdated and could do with a refurb (new curtains as they were falling off of the rail and some fresh cabinets would improve). Staff were all very hard working, and were understanding of our issues, we were given a free trip and bottle of alcohol as an apology which was very nice of them. The reception bar and pool area were much nicer than the rooms. The bar did run out of vodka and whiskey and other alcoholic drinks some nights as easily as 8pm which was a shame, but the bar staff were very friendly and would deliver drinks to your table and by the pool for you if asked. The entertainment throughout the day was good, we took part in archery and darts both very fun, evening entertainment was hit or miss some nights great some nights no so but karaoke night and African dance party night were really good fun. Overall the hotel was pretty average for a 3 star hotel, the rooms were definitely not 3 star but the rest did make up for it.
