Hilton Garden Inn Annapolis

Staff= Fantastic. Friendly. Helpful. Bathroom= Spotless. Well appointed. Very hot water. Strong shower water pressure. Bed= HORRIBLE!!! Felt like it had a cross of 2X4 wood posts under the mattress. Even my husband who can sleep on a bare tiled floor said it was awful. One of the pillow cases smelled like cheap aftershave lotion which made us cringe. Dust bunnies on the phone cord and GARBAGE behind the night stand. We had other family members stay at this same hotel and they were in different rooms. They said their beds were VERY COMFORTABLE.

They charge for water that they clearly State is free, the air conditioner had Mushrooms growing out of it, the room had a heavy aroma of an animal and the bed was hard the hot tub was out of service the bath tub had black stains in it. But the employees was awesome!!!

Property is in a nice location, staff were courteous and nice.

Reserved three rooms on a Saturday night. We chose this location because it had a pool and hot tub, and reasonable location for what we were doing all weekend. There were three problems with the experience. 1. I was issued three digital keys after online check-in, but upon arrival I stopped at the desk first for card keys. It was a good thing I did, because I learned one of the rooms I had been given a digital key to was someone else’s room. Good thing I didn’t walk in on anyone. 2. The hot tub was blocked off from use and the desk clerk didn’t seem to know why or even that it was blocked. And, the pool closes at 9, which was strictly enforced, so we could not use the amenities we chose this place for. Those issues were minor, but by far, the biggest issue is number 3. The fourth floor has severe structural issues. There were small dips in the floor in the hall, but one of our rooms was awful. There were major dips in the floor, like it had given way under the carpet. I tripped several times, despite knowing it was there. All of the drawers in the room wouldn’t stay closed because the furniture was tilting toward the center of the room. I’m not one to get over the top about things, but I became increasingly concerned through the night until we left the next morning. The building needs to be inspected structurally and I bet a major structural remodel needs to happen for it to be safe. I find it hard to believe that staff aren’t aware of this. At the very least housekeeping has to have noticed the pothole under the carpet and the drawers that won’t stay closed.

I have to say that I would have never imagined that a Hilton property could be so mismanaged. Before I get into the details of our horrible experience, I do want to take time to thank Derrick at the front desk. His service was 5 stars whenever we had to get his help. Our room was a two-room suite with a separate bedroom. The format of the room was nice because it had 2 bathrooms and a nice sized living area. That is where the good ends. We had a 5 day reservation and in those 5 days, our bed was never made, our sheets were never changed. and we had to ask twice to get towels. During our 5 day stay, we had to get new keys a total of 9 times, consisting of 18 different keys. That is no exaggeration. As a matter of fact, that number may be on the low side. Our keys were always failing to the point where Derrick had to come up with his pass key to get us in our room several times. On one occasion, I had been to the front desk twice for new keys while my wife waited in the hallway for me by the room. Our main bathroom was very roomy but the shower looked awful. Missing grout and mold on the lower 2 tiers of tiles. Our trash was never emptied until I threatened to put it out in the hallway. Lastly, I had to search to find a working ice machine. The ice machine on the second floor was out of order during our stay. At $250/night I was robbed. In the next 4 yrs, I will be going back but not to this property - ever!
