"Charming cave hotel with gorgeous views of the Sassi"

Beautifully renovated cave hotel perfectly situated in the old Town of matera. The views are immaculate both day and night. They have partnered with a private parking company in Matera City center which is a huge bonus given how complicated it is to park in Puglia (Matera being no exception!) and the hotel offers a free shuttle service to and from the parking. The hotel has many rooms, each tasteful decorated but true to the rustic Matera style. The cherry on top is their gorgeous and well equipped spa (authentic Roman thermal) which is a real treat after a long day walking up hundreds of stairs in the sun. Breakfast options were pretty good too.

Considering we were paying guests at the hotel, I’d have expected the use of the spa (25€/ person for 1h30mins) to be included in the room rate or at minimum a preferential rate for hotel guests. Just a thought…

This is a fantastic place to stay to enjoy sleeping in a cave - albeit a very tastefully created one! Great location - easy to get around the Sassi. Lovely breakfast room with piano playing to enjoy. Breakfast was pretty good. Nothing hot but interesting options!
