Copthorne Hotel Auckland City

Arrived at 2pm to check in, only to find the hot water off for maintenance until 4pm. No prior warning before arriving or while checking in, only after i went to the room and discovered it. The inconvenience was not acknowledged by staff and the receptionist gave very little eye contact. Got a refund and went elsewhere as this is pretty ridiculous. Bathroom is outdated.

Good location for Spark arena with easy accessible parking that can accommodate large vehicles, perfect for concert accommodation

We recently stayed at the Copthorne Hotel for a 2-night, 3-day stay and unfortunately would not recommend it. The room itself felt very aged. There were extremely limited power points, to the point where I had to balance the jug on top of my suitcase just to plug it in and make a coffee. The bathroom power point was broken and unusable, meaning my daughter and I had to do our hair in the main room instead. The bathroom also had broken and mouldy tiles, and the overall room was very dark and dimly lit. Another issue was the lack of soundproofing - you could clearly hear noise from surrounding rooms and hallways. Our biggest concern, however, was the handling of the hot water outage. On the evening of our first night, a piece of paper was slipped under our door advising that the hot water would be turned off from 9am–4pm on Monday 12th May. For context, we had checked in on Tuesday 12th May, so the notice itself was already incorrect and confusing. Then, on Wednesday 13th May, the hot water was in fact turned off for “scheduled maintenance”. This was a major inconvenience that should have been clearly communicated at check-in so guests had the option to make alternative arrangements. We had an event that day and, thankfully, had friends staying at another hotel where I was able to use their amenities. Despite not having access to all advertised amenities during our stay, we were still charged full price. The only compensation offered was a weak apology, which was disappointing given the circumstances. Overall, the stay felt poor value for money and badly managed.

Location to spark arena is great and managed to get a park at the hotel Comfy bed and pillow

Coffee cups were dirty and there was only 1, the blanket on the end of the bed was dirty and we got charged twice for room service

Easily accessible to and from Spark Arena. Comfortable bed. Housekeeping team were super helpful and attentive.

Receptionist were not welcoming at all. more worried about charging $50 deposit per night than welcoming their guest. Same thing during check out: rushing, no eye contact, not even a thank you. Very noisy. Rooms are okay but worn out and dated.

The staff were very friendly! It was our honeymoon and they made our room extra special and heartfelt.

We did have dinner at the restaurant below and unfortunately the slow braised lamb was very tough and almost uneatable but we aren’t ones to complain at a restaurant. Everything else was fantastic!
