"Mortifying"

OMG avoid. I had booked for tonight but didn’t even feel comfortable to arrive. The ‘manager’ whatsapped me a code, which he kept deleting and re typing, so I politely requested he emailed me communications instead (it’s more professional). He lost it. He rang me passive aggressively laughing, outraged that no one had ever requested emailing instead of whatsapping. Realising that you get what you pay for, and that the staff have no control over their emotions, no flexibility for attending to a customer’s personal request, I wanted out. Topped off with his weird, emotional and aggressive response, I quickly asked for a refund, not wanting to hear back from this hotel again. In fact, he asked me to cancel my booking so that I wouldn’t arrive and ‘leave a bad review!’ He followed that up with ‘just being straight with you’. I have since received further strange emotional WhatsApp messages about how he ‘is emotional because he is good at (his) job’. I rang again to check on my refund status and spoke to a female colleague who said ‘it benefits them that I cancelled as they have a que of people trying to book’ (probably paying more at a last minute request) - charming! She began to raise her voice which is a no go in customer service. I was then told via email that I was ‘unprofessional’ which is quite funny, as I’m the customer, so profession isn’t really a thing when you’re paying?! .. it does seem they’ve learnt the word from my comments and are throwing the term around loosely. I’ve seen the other reviews showing the states of the beds and I’m glad I didn’t arrive. Weird, aggressive staff and dirty beds, no thank you! I’m now checked into a nearby hotel and have shocked the staff here with my stories of Stockwood! Great start to my trip 🙈 (which by the way, was to de-stress from life!)

"THE WORST!"

BEWARE! - DO NOT BOOK HERE! when we booked this online we viewed the hotels website which looked very nice! - when we arrived, we received an email saying that we needed to use a pin to access our room key and access to the “hotel” - however, we could not access the hotel, we phoned the helpline number, the man we spoke to was rude and kept saying we needed to “pull the lever” on the key safe. After the 4th phone call he then explained that our room was located in a house next to the hotel! This was when alarm bells really started ringing. We went to the house which had absolutely NO curb appeal, run down and scruffy. As we went in, our room was up a flight of stairs, when we entered our room we were instantly shocked and disgusted by the state of disrepair. There was a bed with huge rips in the leather headboard, the sheets were absolutely filthy, they had not been changed. The carpet was disgusting. There was just a black plastic bag hanging on the wardrobe handles as a bin, the bathroom had soap scum and hair in the sink and shower with an almost empty bottle of shower gel from the last occupant. No TV, no access to wifi, no toilet roll, absolutely nothing but a disgusting bed, plastic chair and dirty bathroom. Downstairs is a kitchen, when my husband looked in there was man in his underwear cooking. Honestly, you can’t believe how bad this place is. We did not stay and ended up booking somewhere else. I cannot stress this enough - DO NOT BOOK!

"Good"

It was very disappointing and didn't feel safe. All the doors pretty much have the same code and there is no additional security when you get inside your room. We had to prop a chair up against the door. Bathroom was dark. Bedding wasn't great either. Check in was a bit strange too. It was great for one night but would not recommend for longer stays.

"Don’t arrive late"

After a delay to my flight I arrived after midnight, very cold and tired. The hotel was shut and the available phone numbers did not pick up. After 20 minutes of trying to get a response I had to try and sleep in the airport terminal. Avoid if there is a chance your arrival time may be delayed!

"Helpful staff and fair value"

Very helpful staff. Nice attitude. Good value for a stopover in Luton. A no-frills type of place, but very fair value. Clean single bed room and decent shower. I’m now only writing more because Trip Advisor very frustratingly demands that you tap out 200 words Weirdly anti-consumer for a consumer review platform.

"luton"

car park too small, got a wake up call to move my van to let someone out since I got the last availanle space. bed comfy but no space to use laptop except sat on bed.

"Lots of potential"

I was sceptical of a staffless hotel but this hotel is very good just a few very small things. The tea & coffee offered is insufficient- for a one night stay i got 1 small milk portion 1 tea bag and 1 coffee - there was also no teaspoon just a stirer. The milk portion had also gone off.

"Over night stay"

It says on the website that the hotel bar is available but no bar snacks but, the bar was not open at all if the facilities are not being open say so. Also not a fan of no hotel staff on site for advice or if things go wrong.
