"Terrible"

2.0

Terrible! The food is awful, same everyday and dished out in such small portions that you feel like Oliver having to ask for more!!!! Everything is fried in batter to make it look bigger and once the serving dish is empty thats it, no more. The music is loud and on at evey meal time. The staff always have large portions on their plates. The Staff are rude and so miserable, theres the odd one thats trying to be helpful and i feel sorry for them as they are definetly out numbered. The drinks are weak and limited on all inclusive, water is not included, you have to keep your bottle and fill from water station. The bar is shut by 10pm but the staff are so rude you dont want to stay in there anyway. Sunbeds - hope your up for getting up at 4am as thats when the towels start going on to secure a bed, there is about 38 beds and the hotel has capacity of 53 rooms that could be potentially 106 people trying to get a sun bed!!! The hotel apparently was at full capacity when we were there, it doesnt make for a restful holiday, people started putting towels on them the night before! The hotel is nicely near a beach but you cant swim in the sea as red flags, its quite tidy as there is a man continually using a leaf blower all morning and even used it in the dinning room. 5 Minutes drive from airport and 40 minute walk to pigeon point which has a beautiful beach and there is a fab coffee shop on the way. Rooms were very clean if a little dated, we had the best view in room 305.WIFI is not available in you room only in public areas. Definetly not a relaxing , quiet holiday with nice food, look at a better hotel where the staff care and want to make sure you have a happy holiday.

"What a gem of a hotel"

10.0

Just returned from this hotel. Absolutely loved it. It was in a great location not far from the airport, altough a new airport is opening later this year. There are other beach bays to visit and lots to see and do. Our room at Tropikist was spacious with a fantastic view of the gardens and sea. The tropical gardens were well kept and very pretty. We went to the beach everyday which was also well kept and the sea was lovely and warm. The food was caribbean style. It was as though you were in someone's home and they were offering you their local food. Once we had accepted this, the food was well cooked and delicious and wouldn't have wanted it any other way. Entertainment most evenings consisted of music, whether it be a singer, steel band or saxiphone player. All were very good. The staff were excellent, very friendly and helpful. On the whole, it was the perfect hotel to chill out and take in the Tobagon culture. I would also like to give a shout out to Alfred and Anika who were the perfect taxi and tour specialists. Feeding the humming birds is a must. We will definitely be back!!

"Unprofessional"

2.0

This is the most unprofessional hotel. I received a email less the 24hrs from trip.com to say this hotel has cancelled as they have overbooked. Absolutely disgusting to leave customers stranded like this. I had booked for 5 nights over 7 weeks ago!

"Quaint Paradise"

10.0

This was not my first stay at this beautiful quaint place; however it felt that way with the many upgrades and changes done since my last stay, from the moment you enter the gate the greetings were simply the warmest and friendliest people you could ever meet. We were guided to the room with such ease and made ourselves at home for the time being. The room was clean and up to standards, the grounds were well kept and so peaceful that you can literally hear the birds chirping and the waves hitting the shore because believe it or not right outside your door is the beautiful sights and sounds of the ocean; just what was needed to relax for the Christmas season. The food was simple but yet tasty with a few options to choose from of local cuisines; at the restaurant the waitstaff was the most helpful and courteous making every meal simply great. Especially one day when my mom was feeling ill and the restaurant was already close they still tended to her by making tea and ensuring she was well taken care of, or when we slept away and they still tended to us by proving a meal ๐Ÿฅฒ Throughout the entire stay to say I was at peace was an understatement as we got to listen to the sweet melodies not only of nature but the guests coming together to sing karaoke or whatever musical talents we had from the live djโ€™s to the national instrument of the Pan. Iโ€™m always sad when the stay is over but reminded through the lovely pictures and memories.

"Great location, friendly atmosphere but let down by indifferent quality of food."

6.0

The hotel has a lovely location right on the seashore but although there is a sandy beach for sunbathing, swimming is not permitted due to a dangerous current. There are 2 pools (4 feet deep) but on some days there were not enough sunbeds - and guests were usually out very early in the morning reserving them with towels available from reception. Our room was newly modernized, spacious and clean, with comfortable beds but very sparsely furnished - it needed at least another chair and a couple of trestles for suitcases. The shower worked well but needed a supporting handgrip to avoid slipping. Unfortunately our first day was spent mainly in sorting out a few problems with the room but they were attended to quickly and effectively. These could have been avoided with a thorough check of everything before occupancy. Sadly the food was underwhelming, with little variation on the lunch and dinner menus, consisting nearly always of fried fish, chicken and beef or pork slices, with rice, noodles and mixed vegetables; the only dessert on offer at both lunch and dinner dinner was ice cream. The breakfasts were adequate but there was a limited choice of cereals and additions to egg dishes (which you could have cooked any way you wished). The restaurant in general was also let down by details such as no salt and pepper on the tables and self-service at breakfast for tea and coffee - the staff were always quick to serve water on oneโ€™s arrival but to serve coffee and tea as quickly (or perhaps instead) would be a great improvement. Overall the restaurant staff were friendly, willing and helpful - although their attention did tend to wander in the later stages of the meal periods when fewer people were dining. The large square plates in the restaurants were very heavy and cumbersome, and there was a lack of side plates for bread, toast, etc. Unfortunately both restaurants had continuous loud video music blaring out, and we formed the impression that this was being played more for the staffโ€™s pleasure than that of the guests; most people would prefer to dine just to the sound of the waves just below the restaurants. With a few inexpensive improvements the Tropikist could easily obtain a fourth star but until some basic issues such as those indicated above are attended to, together with greater attention to detail, that will not happen. We have to say that we would not return to the hotel, mainly due to the indifferent quality and lack of variety of the food.

"Really enjoyable stay."

8.0

We really liked this hotel and had a great time. Canโ€™t quite give it five stars but it was great. Our room was excellent. Really good size. Everything we needed. Immaculately cleaned each day. We had a fabulous balcony just meters from the sea - even saw turtles from it one morning. The hotel offers excursion packages at good prices. We booked the reef, nylon pool trip and a whole island tour. Both were excellent and really efficient. The people are lovely and the front desk could not be more helpful. The hotel is well situated - some walk to Pigeon Point (about 40 mins); Store Bay beach facility is a ten minute walk. There is a mini mart 2 min walk. This part of the island is beautiful. So why 4 not 5 stars. The hotel beach is very pleasant to sit on but you canโ€™t really swim off it. The food - generally very good. Love the way breakfast eggs are dealt with! Other hotels could learn from that. Breakfast is simple and there is usually a few choices . Not a great deal of fruit. Lunch is served in the bar area - great views if you get a good table. Itโ€™s quite good - burgers, chips ; fried chicken, fish and other chicken dishes. Dinner is soup or salad (quite limited but nice) followed by a buffet - served to you- usually with a choice of three meats or fish. Dessert is always ice cream or cake. The food is good and tasty - but not fine dining. The small issue is the service - please donโ€™t get this wrong , the people are lovely- itโ€™s just on occasion they are not really on it! Quite often you need to flag attention to get your plates cleared and your dessert served . ( That sounds like a very spoilt middle class thing to say - but if you are used to European 4 or 5 star it might bother you!) The pool is good - not really designed for swimming lengths or ball games - but great for a dip. There is a swim up bar which can be great fun. Bar staff are lovely people - but again donโ€™t be in a hurry. Local beer and cocktails in the all inclusive package - very good, they are generous with the rum! The whole deal is VERY good value. We have done Sandals and this is not that; however for what we paid we have no complaints. Overall I would not hesitate to recommend it.
