The staff were struggling to cater at breakfast, so the breakfast experience was disappointing. Only one coffee machine, so there was a constant queue. It was self service, when I went for coffee my table was cleared on my return and another person was sitting in my place. The waitresses were under pressure and could not really do anything to help as the room was not big enough to cater for all the guests. It has a good location as it is alongside the old town. :) My room was good, quiet and clean. :)

Reception service was totally under all standards! "It's not my fault that the computer system doesn't work! Can't you really wait for a minute that we fix this!" Was the only feedback with very angry face when we asked that can the hotel offer a beer in the restaurant if we still need to wait after 14:00 o'clock! Junior suite, given first, was not cleaned. Suite, sold with air conditioning, was like a sauna when we went in, yes there was an air conditioner but no remote control. Fridge was broken and TV was missing... Never ever take this hotel if you want to enjoy your vacation!

"A very good hotel in central Riga"

8.0

The hotel is very centrally located in the old town of Riga and easy to find. The staff are very helpful and polite. Our room had a double bed but as we were travelling with a child, we needed to ask for an extra bed, which cost about 30 € extra per night. However, the quality of the bed was not very good - the frame of the bed actually broke down during the last night. The hotel has its own bar but I found out that it closes very early. I would have expected it to be open at least until midnight. On the first night, the bar had already closed when I was just starting to go out for a beer. The only way to actually get in to, or out of, the hotel is through a metal gate that is constantly kept locked. You have to call the hotel staff by pressing a button so they can open the gate for you. Luckily the staff always came within a couple of minutes. The room was very spacious, clean and comfortable. There was even a mini-bar full of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks but we didn't drink any as it would have cost extra.

"Good location"

The room they have given us was a very small rectengular room and it wasn't comfortable. It looks better in the photos but even though it has an historic building, especially the rooms and reception part need renovation.

"Royal suite)"

6.0

First we have reserved normal double room in this hotel for our first romantic trip to Riga. Then, decided to check on booking.com smth with kitchen. And the first what we found - a special offer for a royal suite in our already booked hotel Garden Palace. 80+ sq m with kitchen and terrace. Wow! Lets switch to, we decided. What we got. Yes, thats indeed 80 m2 with kitchen and terrace. But. There is almost no kitchen staff in the kitchen - couple of plates and thats it. No microwave, no electric pot, no wine glasses... Ok, we have asked for glasses and received couple. But the electric pot goes for .. 5 eur per night! Whaat?!? There are also some other descrepancies impossible for royal suite: dirty curtains, shabby furniture... Cherry(ies) on the pie: fireplace which you may not use (but it looks like used), very short shower hose (convenient only for a child), poor breakfast...

"Awful"

This hotel is not worth a penny to Spend. Location only stands out. The rest parameters are 1/5. Wifi doesn’t work everywhere, the bathroom is old and cant take shower, it floods. They asked me to pay extra 50eur/day for double bed. Breakfast is the worth i had. They’d better not serve it.

"Not great"

2.0

This hotel was, in a word, disappointing. When booking it looked nice, however when we arrived we were greeted by a rather miserable affair. Almost everything is worn out and shabby. To enter and exit the hotel you have to ring a bell for staff to unlock large metal gates, probably to deter the guests from escaping. Very odd indeed. The room was extremely basic, old, had a hideous brown carpet with an odd pattern and above all it smelled very musty. It stank so bad that we had to buy our own air freshener. One day we returned to find that the air freshener had been broken after the maid had been in. So not only did they give us a stinking room, but used our own air freshener to spray and broke the bloody thing. Breakfast was very poor, not enough tables, unhappy guests having to clear their own tables, staff not in uniform, very little food choice and almost everything was cold. Miserable staff. The few good things I can think of was the location, elegant stairwells and a nice canary in the breakfast room. However generally you will not have a good time in this hotel. If you plan to stay take your own jam and honey for the breakfast table as none is provided, and for the love of god buy an air freshener for the bedroom, you will need it. Good luck.
