Garden Palace Hotel

The hotel was an average, a bit worn out luxury. The garden was beautiful and comfortable for sitting. Location was very good also.... but breakfast was very poor, so I have not got so bad breakfast before. The seats were scarce, the boards were not cleaned, and the trays were empty, the food was brought in a little bit in the meantime, but some foods were very bad taste. The order of the coffee was so long and the water was running out, coffee and tea could not be got.

Forgotten item was not found the next day after checking out. Really bad experience! Riga tourist guide who worked with the group and tried to help to get back the lost item from the staff of the hotel Garden Palace in Riga.

Somehow a charming hotel in the very beggining of the Old Town. We booked a deluxe room, which was big, but bed uncomfortable and furnitures and bathroom a bit warn out. At the arrival the male Receptionist was actuially very friendly. More than the others. we had to use cash as the terminal didn´t work. that ment that we had to go to an ATM to withdraw more money and furthermore pay the usual 5 Euro ATM fee for that. Breakfast nothing special.. Everytime when you had to go in out out from the hotel a man had to lock up with a key. Obviously the job was annoying to the different men (guards) - not a smile not responding when you said hello or thank you. We are glad we didn´t stay more than 2 nights and IF we come back to Riga, we will book another hotel.

Don't book, staff will try and charge you extra fees, the hot breakfast is very cold, you need to queue for tea or coffee as they use a coffee machine which is far too small, 10 mins wait just for coffee. You need to be let in and out of the hotel by the security card as they will not give you a key to the main hotel door which is kept locked 24/7. Sometimes you need to wait as the guard is not around.

The hotel is in a perfect location in the heart of the Old Town. For a long weekend it is fine with basic facilities. There is a lot of building work taking place opposite the hotel so the workman and their machinery can be quite noisy early in the morning. Hotel reception was friendly and breakfast could be improved - but for 2 nights at a low cost it ticks the box

Great location but realy is very poor breakfast but good think is clean comfortable safety we were stay before 4 years ago was much better room with balcony but still is ok and not expensive is ok we like it because for good price and safety stuff are polait good kind

The room was clean, but shower should be renovated.

It is a bit of a throwback this place. An old and slightly tired building having old fashioned and slightly tired rooms. Heating system, Room TV and internet all poor. Breakfast really not up to the mark and not particularly pleasant. However, the bed was one of the comfiest I have slept in, in any hotel, in recent years. More peculiar, was that the entrance gate was always locked. To come and go someone always had to come and unlock the gate; I'm not sure if that is to keep others out or keep guests in! Great location though, just minutes walk from the old town and all the decent bars and restaurants. Staff not particularly well trained. It could be truly a great place with investment & a shake up of rooms, facilities and staff.

Check in was not impressive. The receptionist was unsure of who we were, not sure about the room we had to stay in and also asked us to pay although we had already paid online. Then everything was clarified by us. The male receptionist on our last day was really helpful and tried his best to find a specific service for us in town. Brilliant location, our room was quite shubby but good enough for our weekend stay. Would need more pillows and a bit of extra decor to look nicer. The minibar definitely needs improving and expiry dates on the goods should be checked.some items were expired so we didn't have anything. Breakfast a bit bland but does the job. Decent stay but don't expect a 4 star hotel as such. It's more like a b&b with a baroque façade.

Hotel is well placed and reception staff are lovely. However it is not 4 star. Our carpet was stsined, the walls had scrape marks, the net cutains in room snd bathroom filthy. The room was so narrow it accommodated two narrow single beds and only one bedside table. No drawers, armchairsior telephone n the room. The hotel bar is permanently closed.
