Rocamar Lido Resort

This is one of three hotels, I think this one being the eldest? Looking a bit tired on the outside, but no problems on the inside My only gripe was that it would had been nice to have a outdoor Heated pool, with the amount of sun the island gets I thought this would not have been a problem , but saying this… the Germans had no problem with the cold water!!

Check in took too long and in a different Hotel to the Rocamar. It is not what it says on the tin! This is actually three hotels spread across a large area so long walks to get to the restaurants and back if you are the end hotel. Shower had moulds at the bottom

Amazing stay at Rocamar. We had a beautiful sea view room and the reception staff were very helpful whenever we had questions. Caniço is a wonderful place to stay if you want to be away from the hustle and bustle of Funchal. The hotel even had a diving centre located inside where we were able to sign up for a try dive last minute!

The property itself is beautiful. My room, however, had problems. I was there for a two day stay. Hoping for air conditioning. On the first evening, I called the reception. The air conditioner did not work. I ended up having to sleep with the door open and got eaten by mosquitoes. The next morning, I went to reception again. Nothing still. Same that evening. For the price, I feel like this should’ve been resolved. Also, parking is on the street and you are lucky to find a spot.

We loved this resort. It had everything we needed for a relaxing and enjoyable stay. The grounds were beautiful and we couldnt have asked for anything more.

Our room was excellent, clean, bed was very good, lots of pools with loungers etc, on site restaurant had excellent food, service was excellent.

This is a resort affiliated with 2 others. All 3 hotels allow the clients to use all of their facilities ( gym, spa, pools, lounge chairs for free) There are 3 restaurant options. We only tried the buffet style restaurant and the breakfast ( included ) lunch (15€) options were pretty good. They don't offer the same variety nor quantities that we are used at all inclusive Caribbean resorts. The evening buffet was 25€ and not with it. Walk out a few steps from the hotel and you have tons of dining options for cheaper. The pools ( close at 18h00) are not heated. There is one indoor and one out. The Turkish baths are nice ( close at 18h30). No need to get up at 5am to reserve your spot, plenty of lounge chairs for every one. One towel per guest for the duration of your stay. If you would like another fresh towel it comes with a fee. The hotel is located around 15min from Funchal. A Bolt ride would cost you 15€ back and forth. Taxis are much more expense , 25-30€. Would I stay at this hotel again, probably not, to far from Funchal. Otherwise it's a nice hotel located in a nice area.
