Plaza Mexicana Margarita's Hotel

Incredible! The hotel, the town, the people, and the experience surpassed our expectations. We even got snow in March. Breath taking scenery!!

We stayed 2 nights in March. We were picked up at the train station and meals were included with the room. The meals and room were fine but nothing special. Good for the price and the tours out of the hotel were pretty good as well. Again good for the price which was quite affordable.

A dreadful experience. We had made the reservation around two weeks prior to the stay but on arrival we learned we had been bumped down to an annex 100m away, to accommodate a tour group. The annex had no reception, no towels, no food facility, no working wi fi, so we had to walk back and forth to the main building ( Creel in February is below zero ). On arrival, we were told that dinner was available any time between 6 30 and 8 00. Later we were called to be informed that dinner was at 8 30, no choice, again to give priority to the tour group. Beer was on display in a drinks cabinet in the restaurant. On request to buy a beer, the staff found the cabinet locked and nobody had a key. We sent up the street to buy a beer in a shop. All this in off peak January / February. No offer of compensation was made, and none of the staff had any English to make any attempt at argument about the shambles worth the effort. This was the biggest diappointment of our trip through Mexico.

The hotel was well maintained and clean, although I had problems getting hot water. Originally, I was planning to spend two nights at this Hotel. Since they couldn´t fix the hot water issue (after I asked three times in one day) I ended up having to take a cold shower the following day (in 35° weather). I contacted Expedia to let them know about my problem. Expedia contacted the hotel to approve the cancellation and they refused. Immediately while I was on hold for about 20 minutes, the same member of maintenance who was supposed to fix the water issue, showed up to my room and like a miracle, we had hot water! I THINK THAT IT IS RIDICULOUS THAT AFTER MY PHONE CALL TO EXPEDIA, FINALLY THEY TURNED ON THE WATER HEATER. The front desk staff was very nice as well as the restaurant staff, but the food was not that good.

Nice little hotel just off the Main Street. We stayed as part of a tour with 18 other couples. Check in was efficient. Rooms were clean. Only wired thing is they shut off the heating during the day. On site restaurant served decent dinners and breakfast.

We loved our room. Accidentally booked the deluxe room which included a kitchenette, but what a happy accident. Beautiful tile work throughout kitchenette and bathroom. All rooms face a lovely, interior courtyard. Our room included breakfast and dinner, and although there was no choice, the meals were adequate, the staff friendly and the setting a convivial one with multinational guests. We would recommend this hotel to anyone!

Helpful staff, breakfast, dinner included, plain meals. Went out for dinner and came back about 22:00 and found we were locked out of the hotel. Finally got in after making a racket pounding on the door. If going out, check and see when they are going to lock up

Our stay was very pleasant. All staff members were very helpful. Food was very tasty and service in restaurant was prompt and nice. The place was very clean.

This hotel provides value for money provided you can put up with frustrations like poor water pressure, the occasional cold shower and nowhere to hang clothes or towels in the bathroom. Breakfast and dinner are included but there is no choice offered. Most staff know only Spanish so, if you don't speak the language, it can be difficult to get service. The hotel is in a good location - 5 mins from train and 1 min from main street - and has a pleasant courtyard in which to relax.

We are on a 2 month tour of Mexico with 3 other couples. This was a prebooked stay for 2 nights and tours. Arrival was excellent, room was clean and comfortable. They turned the heat on as we arrived so were comfortable for the entire stay. Food was as previously mentioned in all reviews. One meal was good others adequate but none were bad. Staff was all friendly and obliging, but with our very limited Spanish communication a lot of hand signals came in handy. A solid 3 out of 5.
