"Did not honor my reservation"

2.0

I had booked a reservation at this hotel for 8 people for two nights. When we arrived, they did not honor our reservation. They said that they were full. We were forced to find accommodations in another hotel.

"Best place on my trip!"

10.0

Everyone was so nice. We had a deluxe cabin, fire place, shower... all for $15 per night. We sent clothes and shoes to Magarita's place when we got back to Texas. There were people from Belgium, Sweden, Germany, ( they were not nice),

"Very cozy hotel"

8.0

We stayed at Margarita's Plaza Mexicana this May during our trip with El Chepe. the hotel was very charming and cozy. It gives you the feeling of being part of a big family. We especially loved the courtyard. The rooms very spacious and very clean. We had no problem with the warm water or heater, we didn't use it during the day and when we arrived in the evening we just asked for it and it was immediately turned on. The meals at the restaurant were basic but good and again served by staff that was extremely friendly. For the price of the hotel with 2 meals included there is no problem if you like to skip a meal and venture into town. We booked two trips through the hotel and we were not disappointed. Both tour guides had been very knowledgeable and committed to introduce us to the culture of the people of the Sierra Tarahumara.

"Very unsatisfied!"

2.0

I had reserved and paid for this hotel about a month in advance. After driving about 16 hours to get there, the owner had given our room to someone else. I had to make quick arrangements at a different hotel far from downtown. I was refunded by hotel.com, but do not trust the hotel people because if someone approaches them and offers them more money they will give away your room.

"Great little hotel in Creel"

8.0

Great hotel at a reasonable price. A little thinly staffed at times but that's part of why they can offer great value. I will be back.

"Small town atmosphere, 2 meals included"

8.0

Our group of 9 stayed here 2 nights while taking tours to the Adventure Park at Copper Canyon and a tour of Tarahumara villages and farms. Our room was spacious and spotless, with the rooms surrounding an enclosed courtyard. Our bed was uncomfortably hard but the room was otherwise acceptable. Walking around the town was very safe, and I highly recommend visiting the little museum in town (short walk from hotel) before taking a tour of the Tarahumara villages and farms (which I highly recommend), as it will help with understanding their culture. Breakfast and supper were provided each day. The food was OK, some meals better than others, with excellent coffee. Serving sizes are generous and no one went away hungry. If you want hot water for an evening shower, be sure to ask at the desk about 30 min. before you will need it, as they turn off the hot water after the morning hours. Right around the corner from the hotel is a little ice cream shop that has the best ice cream I have ever eaten and it's very inexpensive (head left out of the hotel, then first left at the "horse", & it's on the left a short way down). The wi-fi (free) was strong at the hotel.

"Lovely!"

8.0

We enjoyed 3 nights at this hotel. I booked in December so the rate was higher than if we had just shown up like some friends did. Nonetheless the room was cute. The beds were excellent. There was a heater but we like it cold at night. The meals were fine for me but my husband is diabetic and breakfast was almost impossible for him...pan dulce, juice with sugar, atole with sugar, hot cakes.

"perfect choice in Creel"

10.0

We had booked at the Casa Margarita, and were met at the train station by a gentleman who explained we would be going to their sister hotel, a few blocks away. While I was concerned that we might be getting an inferior room in fact it was just the opposite. We walked into an open courtyard, and were led to our beautiful room - spacious, spotlessly clean, nicely decorated in Mexican tiles and furnishings. The staff are so helpful, warm and hospitable. Omar speaks perfect English and he explained the amenities of the hotel, as well as the tours the hotel offers - very reasonable and informative. Cesar was our guide for the Tour #1 - a five-hour overview of the area - just 250 pesos - at least half of what other tour companies were charging. Flor (on the front desk) was helpful and accommodating - she was a very charming and welcoming presence. And the food! Included in the reasonable nightly rate is breakfast and dinner - delicious home cooked multi-course meals with drinks, served family style - an unbeatable value. Many of the guests are gringos; here for the Copper Canyon tours, and it creates a convivial environment in the dining room and the courtyard. By 9:00 pm, the hotel is silent - the guests are either tired from their full day or in bed for an early rise - perfect! This is a perfect hotel - well situated ( 7-minute walk to the train station), well set up for groups and individuals, intelligently managed and sensitive to the guest's timetables. I would highly recommend.

"Great value! Cesar is the best!"

8.0

We stayed here as part of a package arranged through the family that owns this place as well as another in town and one in Batopilas. Cesar speaks excellent English and arranged a trip for 7 of us with three nights in Creel, 2 nights at their hotel in Batopilas, transportation and day yours. It was very reasonable and a great trip.
