De Vere Cotswold Water Park

Rooms are very tired and outdate like from the late 1990's or early 2000's. The bed was uncomfortable and it seemed like they put a king mattress on a double-bed base. There was dust and stains all over the carpets, the walls had dents in them, the bathroom weren't cleaned well. There's no fridge in rooms. The 'laundered' bedsheets had hairs on them too. Cleaning lady walked in at 9am while I was sleeping. There's no 'do not disturb sign', just a 'no service needed today' sign. We wanted the room serviced however we also didn't want to be disturbed, so what are we expected to put? At 9am on a Saturday morning the cleaner decided to knock on the door for cleaning and then walk into the room. Not her fault as the signs as equally as useless for her but not pleasant when I'm still in bed. The Spa6 staff act friendly but are actually quite rude. Firstly which spa hotel makes their travellers pay extra to use the swimming facilities. It's absurd, if you don't book a spa treatment, you had to pay £10 to use the pool for an hour. The pool had around 5 people in there (per CCTV footage on their screen) yet when I asked why we can't go in they said they were at capacity in quite a rude manner. Not a very relaxing first encounter. There's no hot tub, it's just a few jets in the swimming pool. It's ridiculous, they really should be downgraded from a "4 star" hotel to a 2/3 star. It's basically equivalent to a Travelodge with a chargeable pool and bigger rooms.

To use the swimming pool you have to pay extra £10 each very unusual for De Vere hotel The breakfast bread is hard and the sweets like pain chocolate or pastry are not very fresh

Spa was very good and food, especially breakfast was fantastic. However, the room was dated and there were no lights in the main bit so when the curtains were closed the two bedside lamps didn’t offer much light so it was very very dark. No bedroom lamps on the desk or over the chair or over head lamps which was very strange. Also the bar area was a bit impersonal in the evening.

This was an affordable stay and we arrived at night with little expectations. But honestly it was far better than we thought when we woke up in the morning saw these views. WOW! Also the team are real nice and so friendly. Breakfast was delicious and again, the front desk lady treated us like this was a fancy five star hotel in London. So kind, so thoughtful, so tasty! We loved it and will come back and do a longer stay.

Mostly nice rooms if you get the right area of the hotel. Well equipped gym and the spa looked nice although I didn't use it. Food was expensive for the quality in the bar, but the hotel breakfast was very good.

On first look the place is gorgeous. Grounds are beautiful, lake is nice. We found the rooms really tired and needs serious updating for the amount of money you pay! There was far too much mould in the bathroom, marks on the walls, stains on taps and side of bath. Not one for a 4 star hotel. It just lacked the little details, like a fridge, a guide in the room, basic cleanliness. The walls are so thin too, constant banging with the heavy doors last night and early morning....but We had a nice view of the pond, and enjoyed the pool facilities. The breakfast was the best bit. Really nice setting and plenty to choose from. We came to relax as I am heavily pregnant and I did relax but would probaly choose torthworth court if I had choose from the two again. Money we paid did not match the hotel.

Nice hotel, great location. Room was lovely with lovely view over the lake and all the staff were very friendly. Breakfast was great.

Beautiful location!! The best view from the room ever!!..very peaceful,. Spa treatment was wonderful. Lovely friendly staff. The only thing was not much of a choice of menu....no room service and wine was super expensive ....but i would go back and stay in a heartbeat.....just take all that into account .

The hotel looks great but had some issues that made us decide we would not visit again. The walls are very thin so we can hear everything from rooms next door. The doors close heavily and you will be woken up. The most frustrating element is that one needs to pay for the SPA, £10 per person otherwise it gets so busy that you can’t get in. We booked one of the most premium rooms, regardless we had to pay extra to pre book the spa… I found that unacceptable for a spa hotel. Breakfast is good!

Lovely hotel with outstanding lake views. All the staff were friendly and welcoming and attentive to us throughout our stay. We checked in on Thursday evening and checked out this morning. The hotel was very clean and tidy with the choice to eat at either the restaurant or bar with a good variety of food and drink. Our room was lovely and quiet with a super comfortable bed. We loved the boot wash where you could wash your boots or muddy paws after a walk around the lake. The Spa was welcoming clean and tidy with good amenities; the pool water was a little cold for my liking but soon warmed in the sauna. The hotel is in a good location being central to a number of the lakes in the cotswolds as well a major traffic routes. I would 100% recommend and we hope to come back next year!
