De Vere Cotswold Water Park

I stayed here 5 nights for a conference which seems to be the hotels main revenue stream. Overall score was average. On check in I asked for a quiet room and a fridge, which wasn't available. My room was downstairs off reception and bar and I was disturbed every night until 2am by loud guests returning to their rooms. First morning I had no shampoo, asked for some to be delivered giving them 1 hour to do it whilst I worked out. Wasn't delivered and I had to wash my hair with liquid soap. Then some arrived, but was subsequently removed and I had to ask again! They suggested I buy from from the vending machine! Room was large, good layout, lots of counter space, but not enough hangars when wearing business dress for a week. Tired in areas like tiling, some carpet stains. Duvet was on sideways, I reported this at reception and it wasn't addressed. Conference catering was poor. BBQ dinner was terrible, over cooked food left under heaters not warm. Pizza pasta chips buffet more like a children's party. Meal deal lunch in a bag wasn't filling. Nice to have hot and cold drinks available. Not enough bathrooms for a large event space, causing lots of queues in breaks. Grounds are lovely and nice circular lake walk.

We had the most amazing experience. When booking I mentioned it was a special birthday but I was so touched to find cards and gifts, what a beautiful touch which made our trip more special. The most amazing views just breathtaking. Wondwerful amenities and so warm and welcoming.

We had a lovely stay in the apartments and was greeted with a card and lovely display on the bed for our anniversary, I liked the space and room we had the only thing I had to pick at was some of the cleanliness the bed was clean but places like skirtings and lamp shade above the dinner table which had food splashes in needed cleaning and the stairs to each floor needed a clean just needed some attention to detail, and some of the furniture needs replacing. we had our 2 year old son with us who enjoyed the space and a little park however I don’t think this hotel caters to little ones the bar area don’t have anything for children maybe a little area would be nice but overall nice place to visit.

Once I was finally in the right room, I absolutely loved it — bright, clean, peaceful, with a balcony overlooking the lake, the swans, and the quiet mornings I had dreamed of. It was everything I’d hoped for, and if my stay had started like that, it would have been perfect. Unfortunately, the beginning was a nightmare. The first person I dealt with at reception, Emma, was rude, dismissive, and made me feel like a problem instead of a guest. Her attitude caused two awful nights that completely overshadowed what could have been a peaceful trip. I had booked three months in advance for a lake view and was placed in a dark, filthy corner apartment that smelled of rot, with grime on every surface, dust in the air, greasy tiles, and even dog treats on the floor. When I went to reception, Emma rolled her eyes, sighed, and waved her head “no” before pretending to “check” availability, telling me the problem was that I was staying five nights in a half-empty hotel. She gave me a smaller “standard” room that was just as bad — rock-hard beds zipped together, heavy air that made me feel ill, and zero comfort. It was nothing close to what I paid for (£1k - 1 person) I couldn’t sleep, felt unwell, and became so desperate that I went to reception early in the morning just hoping someone would finally listen. Thankfully, a kind young man was on duty that morning, and he honestly saved me. He immediately understood, apologised for what had happened, and moved me to the room type I had originally paid for — bright, clean, and with beautiful lake views. His kindness and professionalism turned everything around and reminded me what real hospitality looks like. It’s such a shame that a place with so much beauty and potential can be ruined by one person’s attitude. This could have been the perfect stay if the right approach had been shown from the start.

My friend and I stayed one night at this beautiful hotel this week. The hotel is very elegant and clean with very professional and friendly staff in every department. We have been felt welcome and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The food was outstanding and the massage we've had with Tia and Phoebe was out of this world! We had used the pool facilities and once again everyone and everything was fantastic. We are already planning to come back next year but will stay 2 nights.

Came with my daughter for spa break, spa was lovely and therapist great. The room overlooked the lake and was clean and tidy with a full size fridge and even a small selection of cakes, scone and cream left in fridge. What was handy is tgat the bathroom.mirror has a section that doesn't steam up wheb you've had a shower Breakfast was a very good selection with fresh fruit, yoghurt, cereals and all the normal continental fresh croissant and Danish pastries l. It was also nice to see a selection of fresh breads which you can cut yourself and I can definitely recommend the wholemeal sourdough. Coffee is via a machine but was very good and even coffee syrup for those that want a shot of vanilla. No rush all very relaxed and would fldefinitely come back again but would not eat at the Boathouse( separate review for this)

I visited the spa area to look at the pool to see if it was suitable to take my 7 year old, I asked if children were allowed in and was told yes however they ask for children not to jump in or splash and keep noise to a minimum. I explained that the first 2 he would be fine with but that he vocally stims as he is autistic (which is completely harmless, natural, and typical for many autistic individuals) and I was told “oh, no then” You state in your accessibility guide that “some staff have disability awareness training” May I suggest you extend that to all staff and also perhaps give some clear guidelines around pool use. All I can find on the website is no under 2’s in the spa pool. I’ve left feeling very confused, sad for my son and concerned that other families may experience the same.

De Vere Cotswold Water Park is in a fantastic location — surrounded by lakes and countryside, it’s the perfect place to unwind. The setting is stunning, with peaceful walks and beautiful views over the water. We had dinner in the restaurant and it was excellent — delicious food, well presented, and friendly service. The bar area, however, was quite busy and loud in the evening, and unfortunately we were woken twice during the night by noisy guests leaving the bar. It definitely took away from the otherwise relaxing atmosphere. We used the pool during our stay, which cost £10 each — something that wasn’t made clear to us when booking. For the price, the pool itself was quite small, but you do get a free swim session if you’ve booked a spa treatment on the same day. We booked the mud ritual treatment, and it was a lovely experience overall. The atmosphere was relaxing, and the therapists were absolutely wonderful. The only issue was that, as we were the first ones in, the steam room took quite a while to heat up — we were already covered in mud and started to get a bit chilly! I had to call someone to check if it was working, but once it warmed up, the rest of the treatment was really enjoyable. Overall, it’s a beautiful hotel in a stunning location with lovely staff, great food, and relaxing spa experiences — but a few small things, like the noise at night and extra pool charge, stopped it from being a perfect stay.

From Friday 10th October to Sunday 12th October , my wife & I with our friends with our two labordors stayed at De Vere Cotswolds Resort. It's our third time staying here for ourselves and on this occasion we managed to reserve three apartments from RM 501 to RM 503 this meant plenty of space for us all, with two rooms and the third generated into a spacious lounge & kitchen. During this stay, it just confirmed to us that this resort is ideal for us, our friends and anybody who wants to relax and unwind and spend quality time with each other and there beloved animals. The availability of walks in the near vicinity including just around the local lake, in the nearby area or town helps you decompress, but the overall relaxed vibe of the resort contributed by the hotel staff makes your stay and the vibe is very different to other De Vere hotel we have stayed in (Windsor). As a result we will be returning again on our own at the end of the month for our anniversary. What more of a compliment can you give to a place then return as a repeat guest.
