Old Rose and Crown Hotel Birmingham

All of the staff was really welcoming and incredibly helpful all the way, 10 out of 10! The room was large, the bed was comfortable and the heating worked well. Everything was clean. Ample free parking and nice green surroundings. The hotel does not offer breakfast but there is a local cafe and there is also a shopping area nearby with a Costa and an M&S cafe offering great breakfast / lunch. I didnt try to local cafe as it opened a bit too late for me.

The bathroom was tiny and the sink was too small, no space to hold toothpaste and a toothbrush at the same time, they kept falling off when I touched one of the taps, the shower was luke warm with little pressure. The flat screen TV was not much bigger than a laptop screen but it worked. If you only stay for the night and at a lower price all of this is probably acceptable

The walls between rooms are thin so could hear the guy next door to me on his phone. That's said all was quiet after 10:30 and hey the room was only £65.00.

Good value simple stay, very efficient check in, lovely room and set in wonderful grounds with easy access for trail running in the evening.

Small point, but the showerhead could really do with some cleaning :-)

The Location

I found this hotel generally a bit unclean which I can usually look past, but my last stay there was very off-putting as there were big yellow stains on the towels which meant I couldn’t use them, and blood stains on the bedding. They don’t have staff past 11pm so no one to speak to. It can be quite noisy as there are gaps under the bedroom doors leading to the hall, and I do struggle to sleep if there are lots of people staying.

It is not correct to call it a b&b. Whilst the bedroom was really nice there are no facilities. No breakfast available, no bar. Wouldn't even consider staying or recommending to anyone. Poor not to be informed, before booking that there is zero facilities.
