"Only a picky person would take issue with this Inn"

10.0

We took a room in the main house for 3 nights. It was an amazing stay with amazing staff. The front desk staff were particularly helpful - upon arrival I erroneously parked in the church car park next door - an easy mistake but no harm. I was directed to the Inns’ car park to the rear. A very easy self-park - particularly to unload the luggage😃 Our king-bed room in the main house (lower floor) was pretty large - complete with couches and dining table with chairs - it would be referred to as a suite in a modern hotel. It was well serviced - kept clean - fresh towels etc. Coffee making facilities are external to the room. Breakfast was cooked to order - served in the garden - and very wholesome. The afternoon tea and snacks; plus the evening port/sherry/brandy made slipping in/out very easy whilst walking between Charleston attractions. Overall it is not “at the cheap end of hotels - but very good value” - easy to return and recommend.

"History and hospitality abound !"

10.0

My husband and I had a truly amazing stay at this lovingly restored historic home . Our suite was well-appointed and very comfortable. The most memorable part of our visit was the warmth, hospitality and efficiency of the staff who truly made us feel at home . We really enjoyed the afternoon tea in the ballroom and a glass of brandy at night on the balcony . Breakfast was made to order and delicious. They assisted with every detail of our trip including dinner reservations, recommendations for transportation and sight seeing . We highly recommend the Discover Charleston package for first time visitors such as ourselves. Honestly, we did not want to leave !!

"What an excellent experience!"

10.0

Staying at the John Rutledge House Inn was perfect. We were able to walk to all the attractions and restaurants within the historic district. But what really made staying at the inn perfect was the staff. They were so friendly and accommodating; and then there were the breakfasts. The food was outstanding and the servers were wonderful. The building is well maintained and very clean.

"We are ready to go back and we’ve only been home a few weeks."

10.0

My husband & I stayed at the John Rutledge House Inn the first full week of April for our 25th wedding anniversary trip. We can not even begin to describe how much we enjoyed our stay here. The place is gorgeous! The room we stayed in (Room 4) is GRAND! Afternoon tea, spectacular, breakfast (we had it in our room every morning) was WONDERFUL. Turn down service was lovely. The location is super convenient to many of the things one would want to do/see. We’ve only been home a few weeks and we want to go back already. We HIGHLY RECOMMEND this establishment.

"Love the John Rutledge House Inn ❤️"

10.0

I had a wonderful time visiting Charleston. The historic inn is beautiful and in a great location. My Carriage House room was quiet and cozy. I slept like a baby every night & awoke to a delicious, breakfast every morning. The staff is professional, friendly and knowledgeable about things to do while there. I highly recommend staying here & will definitely be returning in the future.

"Great stay and location"

10.0

We stayed in the Carriage House out back. Our room was great and the staff wonderful. You fill out a door hanger the night before what you want for breakfast, when, and where. We ate breakfast in the Courtyard two mornings and the ballroom in the main house the third (little cooler that morning). A lot of little nice touches like cold bottled water in a cooler outside so you could grab a water before you explore. Longest walk to dinner was probably about 7 minutes.

"Highly Recommend!"

10.0

My husband and I stayed here for a relaxing getaway and had the absolute best time. The Inn is beautifully maintained, and the rooms are both charming and impeccably kept. Every staff member we encountered was incredibly kind and genuinely interested in making our stay special, which made such a difference. The breakfast was outstanding. I eat gluten-free, and they were exceptionally accommodating with a great variety of options each day, and I especially loved the gluten-free English muffins. They were very careful with gluten-free preparation, while my husband was still able to fully enjoy all of the regular offerings. The location is perfect, right in the heart of a historic district and within walking distance to so much. We didn’t bring a car and were able to walk everywhere during our stay, which we loved. We also visited their sister restaurant, Circa 1886, and the food and service there were just as amazing. We would absolutely return and highly recommend this Inn to anyone looking for a special and relaxing getaway.

"John Rutledge House - not to be missed !"

10.0

This is a really special place- historic, beautifully maintained, well located and staffed by the most helpful friendly group imaginable! We stayed 3 nights in a Carriage House room enjoying the delicious included breakfasts and late afternoon tea and late evening port and sherry service. We only wish we could have stayed longer! I highly recommend this fine bed & breakfast/hotel/inn. It seemed to me to provide the very best services typically offered in all 3 categories.

"History and Comfort"

10.0

Stayed at The John Rutledge House for two nights while touring Charleston with our family of 4. The inn does an amazing job retaining the historic feel of the building while also offering the comforts of a modern hotel. My nine year olds loved the experience of staying at a building that is part of history and thought afternoon tea was the best thing ever. The staff was also outstanding with everyone being welcoming and helpful without exception.
