The Westin Monache Resort, Mammoth

Such a gem of a hotel! You truly get the resort experience here! They make your ski trip so incredibly convenient with the ski and snowboarding gear valet service from the hotel to the gondola! Easy direct access to the gondola as well. Rooms are very nice and clean and other facilities. Bea at the front desk was amazing and very informational about the property amenities! She even assisted us with our back to back reservations and to be close to our group! Our dog (service animal) loves it here too! They are also pet friendly :)

Checked into this lovely hotel for our ski trip. Bea greeted us and helped us with our check in and was lovely the entire time we were here. She explained all the amenities and helped us set our ski valet up. Thank you for the stay, can’t wait to come back to mammoth!

It was my first time staying here after several trips to Mammoth, everything was great! The rooms are pretty large and you can't beat the location right across the street from the Village and gondola. Bruce at the front desk was very friendly and knowledgeable, as was the rest of the staff that I interacted with as well. I'll definitely be back soon!

Casey Roscoe assisted us with the check-in process. he was extremely patient and efficient. He gave us a detailed introduction to the hotel and, since this was our first visit, he also carefully recommended some nearby places for us!

The Westin Mammoth was an ok place to stay with our family of 4 right after the holidays, but had some shortcomings. The rooms were of great size for our needs, but the bathrooms are very small. I guess you could say you get more living space by doing that, but we felt on top one another when having to do anything related to bath area. My overall gripe about this place would be the elevator situation. It just doesn't have enough elevators for the amount of rooms it has. We were there during a VERY busy time and it just wasn't sufficient. After long wait times, elevators would often come completely full and you'd have to wait again...sometimes up to 3-4 times. We were on the 2nd floor so the stairs were an option, but my 5yo and 3yo didn't love it after having to do it multiple times just to go anywhere. Mammoth had unprecedented snow fall while we were there and they had to shut down the mountain for several days. This lead to the restaurant being absolutely packed in the evenings and running out of everything. After sitting at the restaurant waiting our food for a long time, I finally asked for it to-go. It took another 30 minutes to receive and once back at our room (and waiting for the elevator again) the entire order was wrong and things were uncooked or just thrown in a to-go box. The hotel did give us a refund on the meal, thankfully, but overall it made the evening tough since our kids were starving by the time we ate the somewhat edible portion of the meal. They just didn't seem prepared for all the people, which I found odd given this was a Westin and the rooms were over 1K/night. At a ski resort town. Because of....snow. The hotel also encouraged you to use their filtered water service, which was nice...but the only place to get that on our floor was the workout room and the area was always littered with paper water cups and work out towels. The gym always seemed busy so we would have to dodge people working out just to get the bottles filled. I have no idea why they don't place in the hallway or another area that's less gross and hectic. The parking garage was also confusing, and along with the elevator situation, it was hard to get there once you left your room. I'm not sure we'd stay here again. I do understand that there was big storm, but not being prepared for it is a real head scratcher, especially when you are charging a premium rate for the rooms.

I rarely write reviews BUT I wanted to make sure I shared the incredible 10 star customer service I just experienced. Before that, a bit about the hotel. This was our first family trip to ski Mammouth. This was by far such a seamless, easy way to navigate what can feel a bit intimidating experience. The hotel is literally steps from the village gondola. The concierge took all our ski equipment and deposited it in the Valet literally at the Gondola in the village. First ski day we simply walked down the stairs, went to the Valet (only for Westin guests), changed to ski boots etc took elevator up one level to the village gondola. At the base of Canyon Lodge in minutes! After coming home, left our boots, skis, etc all at the Valet, changed to our regular boots and walked back up to the hotel! Also amazing that the hotel is steps from the village -perfect for restaurants etc. Rooms are great, kitchenette nice plus! Now to the heroics of manager Bruce. We had booked 7 nights way in advance. We are already 3 nights in and HAVE to be back in LA for personal/emergency reasons on Friday vs our normal check out Sunday (very good reason why but no need to get into it here). After explaining the situation to Bruce, he was kind enough to refund us the last 2 nights which since it wasn't 14 days in advance, he did not have to. BUT he went over the time given this family situation that leaves us with no choice but to leave early. Its bittersweet b/c we want to stay but its + news that brings us back to LA early. In sum, Bruce was VERY understanding, compassionate and LISTENED to our situation and made a call. In doing so, he saved us a lot of money which really makes a difference. This is why I will be loyal to Westin and Starwood in the future! THANK YOU Bruce and the rest of the Westin staff for an exceptional stay!
