"Spend your money elsewhere"

2.0

What a disappointment - rather, a mess. Nowhere near the expectactions that brand and price tag carry. A souless place for new money that wish to feel spoiled by having a subvservient butler that doesnt anything that a regular staff at a hotel would not do for you. It is not exactly a hotel. These are villas that are serviced. The facilities are almost non-existent: one restaurant to have all the meals of the day (or order to your villa) + a spa. No atmosphere at all, book only if you wish to be isolated but there are better places for sure. The hotel offers nothing but the stay at the villa and access to pool: you are a hostage at your hotel of suggested activities to keep you busy, all at speculative prices. Your villa pool is cold. The general pool is tiny and water is cold as well. Beach of the hotel is 5 meters long, they beach shown in pictures is a lateral beach. In one evening, villa had no hot water. The tap lever fell. Food quality is ok or sub-par depending on what you order. Coming from Constance Lemuria Praslin, you almost cry after landing here. Service is confused. Breakfast is a la carte, but they place everything on the table at the same time after 20 minutes of wait. Obviously, some of your requests are cold by then. In one breakfast, they managed to bring all the juices to the table after we had eaten (except for an expresso coffe, brought mid-meal...!) In one dinner, starters and mains were all brought to the table at the same time (we were not near the closing time of the restaurant, even if that could be argued as a justification). There was no sommelier to discuss the wine - and this is a suppsedly award winner resort on wine matters per Wine Spectator. (So is Constance Lemuria in Praslin, where more than one sommelier would be ready to lively talk about and suggest wines on an always pleasant chat). Management should hop on a flight and have a 3 day stay at Constance Lemuria, Praslin, to understand how to serve diverse guests with quality. Again, prices are speculative. We rented a car to find a contract of a previous guest in the glove box that had been charged less 25eur per day. After complaining, obviously they corrected the price. It is not about the money: that's the price of a glass of wine here. It's the feeling that you are being constantly squeezed for speculative prices. Note: Seychelles are expensive, but this is on another level. Again, new-money prices. Top it up, the breakfast for departure. Firstly, we got an unprompted wake up call at 4am (we would be waking up at 4h30m) confirming if we wanted breakfast (we had a butler to arrange this, supposedly, which he did, supposedly, the evening before). We made our requests the evening before as requested and we receive a disproportionate amount of food - example being one pineapple for two pax. While generosity is to be commended, this is just bad service. They sent us a jar of juice with no glasses to drink from. Yoghurts with no spoons. Boiled eggs that were not fully boiled... A total trainwreck. The spa is ok - better be, at 200eur+ per 60min massage. It must be noted that we do not attribute this to the staff. The staff is kind and caring and do their best. Mike at the pool is a lively character, Vishnu (butler) would do anything we asked and was really trying to make things work for us. The problem here is the concept and the management - things are not working well. For the price tag and advertised service, this is simply a no-pass. Spend your money elsewhere.

"Exceptional"

10.0

We spent a week at Anantara Maia Seychelles Villas for our honeymoon, and the experience was absolutely wonderful. Our villa was stunning! Beautifully designed and the outdoor area was a true sanctuary. Private, peaceful, and it feels like you are in the jungle, it gave us a sense of freedom and space that made our honeymoon feel incredibly special. We were looked after by our butler, Dian, who was simply amazing. Always smiling, kind, and made everything run so smoothly for us. She helped us relax and enjoy every moment without having to think too much. Thank you! Most of our meals were enjoyed in the villa, and from breakfast to dinner, the food was consistently delicious and there was plenty of variety. The massages at the spa were also excellent, deeply relaxing and exactly what we needed after months of planning and organizing our wedding. A small note: the villa pool wasn’t heated, which made it a little refreshing at times, but in the warm Seychelles weather, this wasn’t a big issue. The staff overall were warm, helpful, and genuinely welcoming. Special mention to the bartender (unfortunately we didn’t catch his name!) a fun and friendly guy who gave us great tips on local places worth visiting, like quiet and safe beaches. We appreciated that a lot! This was a once in a lifetime experience and exactly the kind of honeymoon we had dreamed of. Thank you to everyone at Maia!

"Beautiful Setting, But Falls Short of a 5-Star Experience"

6.0

Our recent stay at Anantara Maia Seychelles pool Villa for a week. While the resort offers a stunning setting and some standout service, several aspects of our experience fell short of expectations for a luxury five-star resort. The frustration began even before we arrived. I booked our villa three weeks prior to our stay, entered card details on the website to be paid in full and received a confirmation. However, a week later, I was sent an email demanding photocopies of the front and back of my card, our passports, and a strict seven-day window to fill out their forms and to send them back or the booking would be cancelled! This last-minute request was very unusual and stressful, especially as I was extremely busy in the run-up to our trip. Honestly, had I known this in advance, I would have booked another hotel. It immediately raised red flags and felt out of sync with a five-star experience. On arrival, another small but disappointing detail: - my very first email to them we had requested a personalised welcome sign with our son’s name at airport pickup — a detail the hotel confirmed via email twice! Which they failed to! It may seem minor, but it was a missed opportunity to create a special welcome. Which was disappointing from the start and our mood little dropped. The villas are spacious, private, and clean, but they do feel slightly outdated and could use some modern upgrades to better reflect the premium pricing. Being in a forest setting, you will encounter tropical insects, lizards, and the occasional spider — mostly outside, but they did find their way indoors a few times. Thankfully, our butler promptly handled this whenever it happened. The beach is pretty small , in the evenings becomes practically unusable due to the high tide — making it impossible to enjoy sunset strolls or time by the water after dark. One of the most significant drawbacks was the food. With only one on-site restaurant and no buffet, the menu is fixed and very limited. Breakfast is a set menu - nothing outstanding on it, not buffet-style, and options are minimal — especially for children. Our son ended up eating chicken nuggets and chips nearly every day, with no fruit yogurts or other kid-friendly choices available. Overall, the food was very average and repetitive. In fact, on my wife’s birthday, we had to leave the hotel and dine elsewhere just to enjoy a special meal, which speaks volumes. Adding to this, there’s no kids club, no evening entertainment, and no great excursions — making the resort feel quite uneventful, especially for families. After a few days, we began to feel bored, and in hindsight, wish we had split our week between two resorts. Service-wise, the buggy system / communication needs improvement. On one evening, returning from another hotel, we waited nearly 10 minutes at the front gate for a buggy due to which seemed a miscommunication between security and drivers. We eventually began walking on our own before one arrived when they noticed us. Some of the buggy men were a little rude rushing us not considering there is a 1yr old on board. Despite these issues, there were some standout positives. The spa was excellent — the therapist was warm and professional. Most importantly, our butler was exceptional. He went above and beyond daily to ensure we were comfortable and had everything we needed. Without him, our stay would have felt a lot more frustrating. We were celebrating our babymoon, and we provided our envelope of our scan to him where he organised a beautiful gender reveal. It was thoughtful, emotional, and completely unforgettable — a memory we’ll always associate with this hotel and him. Looking back, we wish we had split our week between two different resorts — two/ three nights here would have been enough. Anantara Maia has potential, but there’s a lot of work to be done in areas like food, family-friendliness, and guest experience if it’s to truly deliver a five-star luxury stay. For now, I could honestly only rate it a 3.5 / out of 5.

This has been one of the best experiences that we have lived in a luxury resort. Stunning views, luxury villas, outstanding restaurant and wine menu, and the best personal guest relations, Dian, who made our life easy and comfortable.

"Magic honeymoon stay"

10.0

The Seychelles are a paradise and fortunately the government allows tourism with respect of the environment. Anantara Maia hotel is a unique place with a restricted number of guests where anything you may expect from an outstanding stay in a most personal way materialises. The accommodation in the villas, which are build in a beautiful style with traditional materials transmits the feeling of beeing in your own home with all the privacy you would expect. The restaurant which is offering various styles of cuisine and everything they offer up to personal wishes can be served to you in your villa or at some unique place on the property. During your stay you will be taken care of by a personal assistant who will be there for all your wishes around your home and help you to make arrangements for the amazing spa treatments or any activities outside of the hotel. We have been totally spoiled. Overall there are a lot of people to make everything work to perfection but you hardly notice them. This is certainly thanks to the management who have an eye on everything and are personally interacting with you if need be. We are sharing our impressions to thank everybody at Anantara who made our honeymoon stay magic - we will never forget - and be blessed!
