Chandara Resort & Spa Phuket

We have enjoyed our stay at Chandara. Our one bedroom pool villa had gorgeous views over the water. Our villa was large and comfortable. As other reviewers mentioned the aircon is a little loud but this didn’t bother us. It worked well. Breakfast wasn’t great, but we enjoyed both Western and Thai food from the lunch/dinner menu and all of it was good. Staff were friendly and garden was lush. While it is tempting to stay in your villa and not venture out, we did use the main pools and spa which all had great views and was a nice place for a cocktail or beer. Overall, yes this is an older resort and if you are looking for a place with a vibrant nightlife this is not for you. But if you are looking for a relaxing, peaceful vacation away from the crowds, Chandara is a great option and we thought for the price it was excellent value.

I shall start the review saying I was a little skeptical with the negative reviews when I read it and was ready to overlook the fact that the property is older, further out from everything where u probably need to rent a vehicle if you plan to explore the island, that there was a lot of greenery and on this island which meant lots of mosquitoes. Here are my experiences: Pluses: The staff is wonderful, smiley and helpful Even the property is not that new, they managed to keep it lush and green and comfortable for guests. It really felt like we were the only guests around, we didn’t see any other guests during our stay. The room was relatively huge, along with a huge bathroom and a large sink. The bed was decently comfortable. Not the best but didn’t give any major backaches. Water pressure was great with unlimited supply of hot water. They provided a mosquito repellent in the room which worked well. Minuses: I have seen cockroaches and lizards in my room. Living close to nature is one thing, but having them inside your room is another. Wifi worked only intermittently. Was ok for day 1 when we checked in. None on day 2 when we came back, and after the staff fidget for 15mins, it was back up. Didn’t work again on day 3 evening and we gave up. Really wanted to use the bathtub, which took forever to fill because the tub was so huge. Then I realised it was because the water flowing out of the tub was almost as fast as it took to fill up the tub. Asked the staff to fix it on day 2 and it never got fixed. There were slippers that were provided for the room, it felt like outdoor slippers rather than indoor slippers that has been worn to death. The air conditioning was relatively loud. Not sure if it’s for the particular Villa. Also I got a villa where it’s morning sun towards the bed area, no dark curtains so it gets bright early. No tissue box was provided for the room. Toiletries was added on 1 day and not the next. Jacuzzi worked for a day and decided to stop working the next day. There are areas within the villa especially the outside that looks forgotten. Stairs to the villa that has broken, replaced and looks like it has broken down again. An open area at the back of the villa that looked like a pair of sun beds would look perfect in. A huge hole in the ground that looked like it might have been a water feature before. Overall, I probably wouldn’t go back to this resort again

Nice rooms quite a remote location but close to AO Po marina. Air Con very noisy and had a cockroach as visitor one day but big rooms. A little tired but convenient didn’t use restaurant based on previous experiences

The villas are very spacious and have amazing bathroom amenities!

Best place for couples retreat so excluded we left like the only two people at the whole resort , the couples spa rooms were excellent we went everyday and the restaurant was so yummy we didn’t eat anywhere else cannot wait to go back !

Stayed by chance after we missed last boat to Koh Yao Yi, however it was a great place for 1 night. The villas were very large and spacious with an incredible private jacuzzi and double bathroom. had a 12 hour sleep on the lovely bed. Staff were friendly and respectful and I would recommend to all others who want to spend 1 night before taking the boat to the islands.

Very excellent reception, food, clean rooms. Beyond expectation for our honeymoon.

What a beautiful location! The room was huge and the facilities fantastic. Staff super helpful and I will definitely be returning for another longer vacation.

My husband and I stayed at the Chandara Resort and Spa for ten nights. I must say, we had the most wonderful time, from beginning to end. This was partly due to the wonderful service we received from staff and management. They fulfilled our every need, even simple tasks such as driving us to the nearest 7-Eleven, or taking us to one of the restaurants at the Marina. (The ‘Port of Call’ restaurant does wonderful Asian and European food) I’d like to take a moment just to highlight what some of the previous reviews have moaned about and hopefully clarify them. 1. Chandara Resort is out of the way from all the nightlife in Old Town and Patong area. This is also true of everywhere else that’s not the Old Town or Patong Area. 2. Chandara is quiet, we usually only saw guests during breakfast or in passing as we were heading out for the day. This was exactly what I wanted. I spent most of mornings relaxing by our private pool, not being disturbed my anyone, how anyone finds this to be an issue is beyond me. 3. There are lots of excursions available in Phuket and the surrounding islands. The majority of tour companies will pick you up from your hotel, so location is not an issue. The staff at the Chandara will also drive you to AoPo pier, where you can take a boat and visit the James Bond Island and go Kayaking and relax on the beautiful white sandy beaches. 4. The Chandara is slowly returning back to form, all of the villas and the hotel buildings are being refurbished. There were no construction noises or disturbances during my time there. I look forward to returning to the Chandara Resort and Spa in the near future.

We really loved this place! Great views, amazing pool and a wonderful staff. The food at the restaurant was delicious, we ate there for almost every meal. The property is a little dated, it could use a fresh coat of paint and some refreshing of the decor but overall it was an amazing stay!
