The Churchill Hotel

The hotel is well maintained throughout & its mix of old world charm with modern touches. The food in the restaurant was as good as any hotel we have eaten in. Presentation was superb as was the food & the service. When we return to York again it will be to The Churchill where we will stay. From the reception , bar , dining room & room service the staff were excellent.

The entrance to the hotel is extremely tight & we missed it first time maybe a word on booking to help spot the entrance to the car park

The location is great for visiting York. It’s an easy walk to the city centre. We were able to park our car in the hotel car park. We ate in the hotel garden restaurant both evenings and very much enjoyed sitting outside. We were given a room upgrade, which was a lovely surprise.

Nothing, it’s all wonderful. My only request would be for brighter reading lights by the bed.

The room was very pleasant. Very nicely decorated , although we were in the basement so there wasn’t a view . The parking was very tight and unfortunately under a tree. Our car was absolutely covered in sap and tree buds and pigeon poop after two nights . We had an evening meal in the restaurant on the second night . Not very good . The staff were excellent very informative and helpful .

Cheaper parking. Food in the evening was average . I had the fish of the day . Wasn’t told what the fish of the day was 🤔Was very soft and mushy when I got it , Some broccoli, asparagus and cabbage . That was warm and under cooked and in a pool of water. A few new potatoes . Altogether nothing special , below average and £20 odd quid . ☹️. It was steak night , maybe that was the problem .

I loved the historic building , the garden was lovely and the staff very welcoming
