"Peaceful Ouray Stay, Scenic, walkable, friendly and comfortable"

10.0

We spent a week at Box Canyon Lodge & Hot Springs in Ouray, CO, and really enjoyed our stay. The lodge is at the end of town, making it quiet and scenic, yet still within walking distance to the ice climbing park and into town. The views are beautiful in every direction. The staff were very friendly and happy to recommend great places to eat. Our room had a king-size bed with comfortable pillows and a small sitting area with two high-back chairs. The closet is small, so extra hangers are helpful, especially with winter or climbing gear. The room included a microwave and tall mini fridge. Although the hotel is older, the bathroom was updated and roomy with great storage. Weโ€™d stay againโ€”next time in a larger room.

"LOVE the Tubs !"

10.0

We have driven through Ouray before being on the Million Dollar Highway but have never stopped to stay, so we took a few days for my birthday to explore the area. Had a great time ! Box Canyon Lodge sits at the end of the road and you can access part of the Perimeter Loop within a few hundred yards of the lodge. We had a Hot Springs King room , which you have access to the 7 hot tubs right out your door. Absolutely loved it ! We hiked during the morning and came back in the afternoon to soak our tired muscles . The room accommodations were nice and they were clean. The staff were very friendly and helpful finding trails . They have a complimentary bfast every morning with a great selection of items . We had planned on going to the community hot springs but it was so wonderful having them right out your door we didn't need to go any farther ! We will definitely be back and may bring the side by side to enjoy that aspect of the area next time ! Highly recommend Box Canyon Lodge & Hot Springs :)

"Excellent location not matched by accomodations"

6.0

We stayed two nights during peak fall color (i.e., much higher rates). That being said, our expectations exceeded the reality of an older motel's limitations. It would be helpful if staff would be available to take luggage up the open stairs to second floor guestrooms. The room is spacious enough but is configured like an old Holiday Inn that has a door to the small toilet and shower, but no door to the vanity area. We enjoyed having a large table and chairs in the room and also having a bench outside our door, affording a beautiful view of mountains. Our room was clean, linens were plentiful and in good condition and breakfast was quite good. As noted by others (and by the motel's waiver of liability which we signed), the outdoor hot tubs are very slippery. We enjoyed soaking in them, but one of our group sustained a painful shin hematoma despite holding tightly to the stainless steel bar. Being so close to downtown and beautiful Box Canyon Falls was a plus.
