Box Canyon Lodge and Hot Springs

The views from the mineral hot tubs were amazing!

For the price, I was a bit disappointed in the condition of the lodge. We stayed in one of the suites, which still had carpet that looked dirty and dated — that part really turned me off. The inside overall felt a bit aged. The highlight was definitely the hot spring tubs, which made for a great first experience in Ouray. The evening staff member was wonderful — friendly, helpful, and full of great recommendations. The day staff, however, weren’t as welcoming. It was also a bit difficult taking the dogs out since there weren’t many areas nearby to walk them, but we did find the Hot Springs Park, which had a big grassy area where the dogs could have fun. The continental breakfast was okay, but the location was great — we were able to walk to most places in town. Overall, not a terrible stay, but I wish they kept up better with maintenance, especially the flooring.

Room priced far too high for condition. (and we stayed in other locations that were priced higher and lived up to their pricing). Examples: towels were yellowed and worn thin. Entry to "porch" paint peeling on steps down to raw wood. Little table was filthy. Kitchen poorly outfitted, and prominent sign that dishes were guests responsibility which 8s fibe, but not one dish towel. We will be back to Ouray but not this lodging.

Loved the resort with private hot springs tubs!

Rooms were ok cleanwise but the bathroom tub and vanity sink were vwry worn and chipped , well.past due for replacement or refurbishing . Gven the almost $500.00 per night rate it should.be expected that things like that get taken care of before reaching that state of deterioration.

The Room was Great. Bathroom was nice and updated and the water pressure and temperature was perfect for showers. The Breakfast was a good variety from hot food like eggs, bacon or sausage and waffles to cereal. The Hot Tubs where a nice perfect end of the day to relax in.

Woke up to a bunch of kids on Saturday running and screaming across the balcony, but was not that big of a deal since it was like 8:30 or so in the morning. I do recommend rotating the bed mattress every so often, there nice but you can start to see a divett where everyone one sleeps.

The room smelled of pee and mildew so bad that we smelled like it leaving after just one night. The manager was very pleasant at check in but I don’t think I’ll be back due to the smell.

Staff was rude
