SpringHill Suites by Marriott Albany Latham-Colonie

I stayed at SpringHill Suites Albany-Colonie for one night on a Saturday while in town for business. Unfortunately, the experience was anything but restful or professional. At check-in, I noticed a welcome sign in the lobby for a “gaming” group. The breakfast area was already filled with attendees socializing and playing games, which initially didn’t concern me. However, by around 8:00 p.m., the lobby was packed — easily over 100 people — with a live band playing. The noise level was significant but settled down around 9:00 p.m. when the crowd moved upstairs. That’s when the real disruption began. From approximately 9:00 p.m. until nearly 2:00 a.m., the second and third floors were essentially one large party. Loud yelling, shouting, cackling women and repeated screaming carried throughout the hallways from multiple rooms. I’m 99% sure this was some sort of “Tickle Fetish” group, based purely on the noises I was hearing through the thin walls of this particular SpringHill Suites. Whatever event was being held, it was clearly not contained to designated spaces and made it impossible to relax or sleep. For a hotel that caters to business travelers and families, this was completely inappropriate. Even more concerning was the apparent lack of staff presence. After 10:00 p.m., the front desk area was dark and unattended. There was no visible effort to manage the noise or enforce basic guest courtesy. In the morning, I raised the issue with the front desk. The response was simply an offer of additional reward points. While I appreciate the gesture, it did not address the core issue — the hotel allowed a disruptive overnight event that severely impacted other paying guests. I will not be staying here again and would caution business travelers or anyone expecting a quiet evening to think twice before booking, especially on a weekend.
