Beautiful location & good service

The Staff was real informative and friendly. Especially the waiters at the restaurants. We were happy when we arrived that they offered us a free upgrade to a bigger room (Hacienda). Unfortunately the room smelled like mold. I woke up during the night our first night and found the asile and around the king bed had water all over the ground. My luggage and a few other things got completely wet. There seemed to be an issue with the AC. When we called about the issue to guest services they assured us a fix to the problem and never heard back until my wife called back at the end of the Second night. Their solution was to have the cleaning crew put 3 garbage cans underneath the water drops. On the third night they sent a repair man out while we were all getting ready for lunch and I asked him if he could wait while we got ready he seemed upset. My wife called to see if we could get moved to a different room but we never heard back until our last night st the resort. We mentioned this to the service desk as we were checking out and they honestly didn’t seem to care. It’s inexcusable to have to deal with these issues. You plan and pay to go on a vacation and these issues are the last thing that are on your mind to have to deal with. I’m being generous giving 2 stars. My wife wanted me to give 1 star. Only reason I gave 2 is because the staff at the restaurant were great!

Hotel is outdated. The train to take you around was only one and you wait long time to move around.

While property is on older side, its kept clean. The down side is the patio door was bolted shut. Still like it overall.

Pros: Nice rooms even at the basic level, beautiful grounds and walkways, a trolley btw buildings, bars everywhere, very clean adult pools, best buffet food I’ve had at an all inclusive, good beds, 24/7 room service, kind helpful staff, help with taxis and luggage service. Cons: So many areas exclude children and non Royal Elite members, only one trolley for a huge resort and thousands of people, 20-25 min wait per trolley, 10 min walk from family area to the buffet or any food area you could really get into, almost non existent ability to get speciality dining reservations, understaffed in restaurants and family pool area, no service to chairs on the beach, ocean was having a sargassum bloom so very dirty, 15 min walk from the low level family area to the family pool. If you wanted closer it was much more $$. The family pool area was not very clean and very crowded bc it was only pool kids were really allowed in. Go to guest services to make speciality reservations, not the app. Buffet was really the only place you could eat. Room service menu was hard for gluten free or kids options. Elevators still broke after weeks of complaints. Overall- I loved the resort but I wouldn’t go back with kids. It was just too big and poorly set up to get around with your kids. Frustrating when they were tired. It’s also frustrating that it’s advertised with so much, then you get there and only the elite members can use it. I would go back without kids but pay more to be closer

Pros: I stayed in the Platinum Tower, and I will adamantly say the rooms are well appointed, extremely comfortable, and well stocked. The food is tasty if unremarkable at the quick-service places, but, difficulties getting a reservation aside, the restaurants were fantastic, especially the steakhouses. The pools and the beach are beautiful, well maintained, and not too crowded. Cons: The main issue I had with Sandos was the spa. I experienced an uncomfortable upsell in the midst of a massage. Seriously, she spent the first 20 minutes trying to get me to upgrade to the next tier, which ate into the time I had paid for, and then hovered while I was given a written feedback form. When I didn't write anything, she immediately made some comments about me in Spanish. I speak some Spanish, so I got the jist of what was being said, and it wasn't good. Also, the layout is a bit funky (the childrens' pools are closest to the adults-only section), they are a little lax with the "adults only" label in certain sections, the distances are very far here, and the trolley service is erratic at best. It was a 16 minute walk from reception to the Platinum Tower - I could handle it, but someone with mobility issues would have a very hard time. The trolley issue leads into the final con - the staff here kind of pale in comparison to other resorts I've visited/stayed at in the area. They're surlier here, and push the upsell at every opportunity, which I don't appreciate at an all-inclusive.

Absolutely amazing stay at Sandos Playacar in Riviera Maya! The resort was beautiful, the food was delicious, and the beach was perfect—but what truly made our trip unforgettable was the phenomenal service from Ethan. He went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed and always with a smile. Thank you, Ethan, for making our vacation so special. Can’t wait to come back!

Access VIP gave many great benefits such as preferred dining reservations and all bell service arrangements made. Great property, great ocean front room. I highly recommend.

The resort has everything you need. Great family place with something to do for everyone. Nice place to walk through too. Natural wildlife roams freely!
