"A lovely quiet country hotel with beautiful gardens"

10.0

A beautiful country hotel with stunning gardens with superb food at a very reasonable price.

The property is obviously very old and a little tired but has a lot of charm

"Good spot for a group or overnight stay"

8.0

Quaint accommodation in an old building. Stayed with a group for a wedding nearby and it fitted the bill perfectly. The room was small but had all the necessary facilities for an overnight or two night stay. Breakfast was fresh and good quality. Free parking and nice gardens.

All good for a one night stay.

"Exceptional"

9.0

A lovely quaint hotel, really helpful staff, very spacious room. Perfect night's stay for my family as four (in the quadruple room). Breakfast was delicious. Would absolutely stay again.

Facilities are slightly dated, the toilet flusher and taps could use with updating. Couple of spiders in our bathroom with us - not sure if they pay the nightly rate.

Sweet little lodge, maybe could have been checked before we arrived as a few spiders had moved in but comfortable and clean

Big comfy bed, quiet location

Only 1 towel given in double room! Decor and building looking a bit tired but generally a good hotel near to Bury St Edmunds

"Lovely stay"

8.0

The room was a bit tired and the bathroom had a toilet leak didn’t complain as only stayed one night! Did mention it the next morning. Saying that the bed was comfortable and the room clean and a decent size. The food was excellent and reasonably priced. The heritage building and grounds were amazing and the overall price was good value.

"A lovely stay in a lovely building."

8.0

Review of Room 3 (Small Double) - Compact size for 1 person. The bed was comfy. It contained all the standard accessories (Tea/Coffee, Shower products) but could do with adding some biscuits! The bathroom was big enough and the shower was excellent. The views were of the garden so lovely birdsong in the morning. Eating - A good variety on the menu. I would recommend the Chicken Curry as it was very traditional and obviously home made (served with Rice and Naan). It could do with having Mango Chutney or Yogurt as condiments though. Nice bar too! The location is ideal as it's about 20 minutes drive to Bury St Edmunds.

"Adequate. The young lady that served breakfast was very shyly eager to please and most helpful."

5.0

I do not remember asking for a quiet room.

Pillows - inadequate. Not enough teabags in room. Generally a little shabby and furniture could do with some good polishing.
