The Downtown Hotel

We were on the tail end of a four week hiking trip in the Caribbean. We had heard about all the great things to do in the Soufriere area so thought this would be neat place. We didn't like the town much at all, found people less friendly than the rst of St. Lucia. We didn't have a car so that limited what we could do. However, our room's balcony was a highlight. We would grab a drink and people watch for hours. And one day noticed a market being set up under our balcony. The veiw was nice with a piton and the ocean right there. So while I won't return to Soufriere again...but if you are there, this is a decent hotel.

Place was OK, 2 out of 3 nights our AC didn't work so I didn't sleep very comfortable besides that all else was well.

We had a fantastic time, the only problem was the running water.

If you want to see the real St Lucia, this is the place for you.

Large room with kingsize bed. Microwave, bar fridge, plates, cutlery, cups, glasses, tea and coffee. Perfect location, very clean, friendly staff, reasonable priced (niceest place I stayed for the price). Overlooking the ocean

Wanted a hotel near the beach,but central for visiting other attractions on the island,and the Downtown hotel fits the bill exactly.Plus you are right in the heart of Soufriere,which is very handy for the shops and restaurants and all the other facilities. In addition the staff are excellent,they can answer any questions,and they can help you sort out any problem.If something in the room is not working,they will get it fixed.Information about trips ,eating out,transport ,etc,they will have the answer,or find out for you.Couldn't have been more helpful!

Pay for the sea/piton view- its worth it!! We spent many days relaxing on the balcony in the sun and nights looking at the action on the street with a beer. The hotel is in the middle of everything with a few small grocery stores and bakeries nearby. Good, cheap food is also available downstairs at the DejaVu cafe (we ate breakfast, lunch and dinner there many times). The local bus stop is across the street- great alternative to taking expensive taxi's everywhere. Air conditioner worked well and room is spacious.

Hotel staff was very helpful, provided valuable information as soon as we arrived. They also were very quick to answer any queries and to arrange for any transportation to the various activities in Souffriere. We had an issue with the air conditioning unit in our room and it was promptly fixed after we mentioned the problem to staff.

Great friendly staff. It was nice to stay downtown to be close to the locals. Not many tourists early Am and later PM. Great to feel like a local. Nice sunset view from our room. The view was probably very unique to Saint Lucia with the Pitons and the boats in the bay at the same time. The only issue we had was the beds but we stayed at three other hotels on the island and found their idea of a nice bed was quite different than ours.

We enjoyed our stay at this hotel. For the price we paid we were very happy. We had a hiccup when we checked in due to another customer which led us to being in the wrong room the first night. That was taken care of the following day. We stayed in room 9 and had a good view of the mountains, the church square a bit of the water. It was clean and had a microwave, kettle and fridge. The shower you have to let run to get the hot water, which we were told when we checked in. No biggie. This hotel suited our needs as we were backpacking St. Lucia. We stayed in our room to sleep so all I look for is a clean bed and a clean place to shower. We felt safe here. There was a security guard at the bottom and no non guests were ever seen in the hotel lobby. Keep in mind this is right downtown. The only complaint I have which is not the hotel's fault is that rooster that goes off from 5am on. The sound of the town comes through as well. This hotel is not for you if you cannot handle stairs. This hotel is for you if you are in St. Lucia to live with the locals and enjoy their food and music.
