Galway Heights Hotel

We liked that it was generally better kept than other hotels we stayed at in Sri Lanka. As with all hotels during our trip, the photos are always very well taken and not 100% real, but in this hotel the discrepancy between photo and reality was objectively less than usual. The food was great! A quite big and clean buffet in a lovely room.

We know that in such wild nature it’s difficult to keep everything managed and clean, but let’s say that from a hotel with pretty high reviews such as this one you would expect a little more. Anyway much better hotel than the ones we went to the days before 😊

Had more than enough night staff and they were helpful, but next day morning in the reception there was a young staff member who was managing the reception on his own could not even understand what I said, how to reply or speak English and how to print the closing bill to say there is nothing outstanding because I paid the dinner money when we had the meal and rest of the bill was already paid up front. This staff member running round in circle not knowing what to do and wasted almost more than 45 minutes of our time and made our day VERY, VERY MISERABLE... This should not be acceptable for a four star Hotel and I hope you consider paying for the inconvenience caused by your staff!!!

Lovely charming stay in a colonial style ambiance

It was a chilly night and no heater in the room (we did not ask about it though, maybe it was available uon request), breakfast and dinner buffet were fine but i’d expect more for that money! They bring you a cup of tea for 350 rupees (not even a pot), which i think is strange

mountain view laughable, don’t bother with upgrade, sleeping in a room with a thousand pigeons on the roof is not fun , the shower smells like a sewer

Our stay at the Galway Heights Hotel may not have happened as I had booked the wrong night for accommodation! Dilshan and the team went beyond expectations and found 2 rooms for our travelling group (the last 2!)...was kind enough to show us the room and see if it met our expectations and had them both freshened up so that we could be comfortable for the night. The team at this hotel bent over backwards to help us, the room was big, comfortable and clean and the team in the restaurant were just as nice (the dining room is a work of art). The only thing to be wary of is that the rooms let in a fair bit of noise, so don't forget to pack your ear plugs!

They helped us ordering a tuk tuk to different places in town. The bed was also pretty comfortable.

There was very humid and terrible indoor climate in our room. They don't have AC since the town is pretty cold in general, so no good way to get better indoor climate. From the moment we checked in the personal kept asking to leave a good review on trip advisor mentioning their names which was a bit obnoxious. I'll leave a good review if they deserve it - not on command. We were perhaps unlucky with our room which was situated just across their "break room" kind of room so there was a lot of noise and doors slamming all through the evening and even at night. I don't think you get value for money here at all compared to other places. Don't come.

This property was great. We stayed for one night. Staff were very attentive and friendly. Highly recommended this place.
