Secrets Maroma Beach Riviera Cancun - Adults only

Beautiful hotel, good facilities - quite large./ busy, didn't feel particularly 'exclusive' Staff excellent, v friendly 2 good pools, although towels start going down on loungers at 7am to reserve spots and sunbeams eventually ran out - made worse because of sargassum on beach. Pool gets noisier in the afternoons - no surprise! Specialty restaurants very good, especially Himitsu & Bordeaux. Wine included was very limited (2 whites, 3 reds & a rose) and options to buy bottles were ridiculously expensive - else the All Inclusive really was Activities were good, although some of the pool ones were a bit tiresome 2/3 how's we went to (the music ones) were v good Beach out of action due to major sargassum infestation which was a big shame - not hotels fault & they worked tirelessly to clear it, but would put me off Cancun at this time of year Preferred Club upgrade pointless in a good 5* all-inclusive

The Hotel was excellent, the location, food, amenities, entertainment and most important the staff were fantastic.

Just one small thing, being charged over 20% to withdraw cash from the Hotels ATM machine. Needless to say I only made one withdrawal.

We had an amazing time at Secrets Maroma for a delayed 20th anniversary trip. The property was stunning and the staff were consistently amazing. Special thanks to Omar on the entertainment team who got to know us and was so much fun as well as to our concierge Francia who was so solicitous and eager to help us have the best time.

Everything was excellent. Service, food, entertainment, ambience. Our building concierge was Angel and he was very attentive and ensured we had a fantastic stay. We did a number of add-ons and we thought all were a good value. We did a pool cabana, a beach Bali bed, romantic dinner on the beach, and a couples massage. For the days when we didn’t have a reserved space, the pool wait staff were very attentive and the pool concierge did a great job ensuring that chairs were not being saved but not being used. They stuck to a 45 minute rule and we did see them remove items a number of times to make space for people who were looking for a spot. This is the best adherence we have seen at any resort, and appreciate that the staff pay close attention to this. The only downside was all the sargassum on the beach. It was really bad this trip. However, this is not something that the resort can control, and they did a great job working all day each day trying to keep it cleared out. Overall, we had a fantastic trip and will definitely be back!

We have just returned from 10 blissful days celebrating our 20th wedding anniversary at Secrets Maroma Beach. This is a really special place and we loved every minute of it. The resort itself is absolutely gorgeous, the food options are plentiful and delicious, the beach is stunning (even on a bad sargassum day), the staff are absolutely incredible (shout out to Marcelo, building 16 concierge) the entertainment and activity programme jam packed and varied, although we didn't go to any of the evening shows. An unexpected highlight for us was all the wildlife and different birds all around. Beautiful! There is a lack of information within reviews about the accessibility of the resort, so I want to focus on this to help others like me who have mobility challenges and use mobility aids or wheelchairs. The resort has ramped access to most areas. On arrival we were taken right up to our door in a golf cart. I was told that you can call for a cart at anytime, I didn't test this theory but it's a great option. There is even a 'rain route' which is an undercover walkway from the lobby building to every single building which I thought was fabulous, especially as I walk slowly and benefit from it on a very rainy day. There is a lift in all buildings including the lobby/restaurant building. I have seen some reviews where people incorrectly state that there is no lift up to the restaurants, this is not true however it is rather hidden with poor signage so I can see why people think this. The lift on the lobby level is located past the pharmacy, preferred check in and restrooms and then around the corner to the right. This comes out on the ground level in a corridor next to the fitness centre. To locate it at ground level, go towards the fitness centre between the world cafe and the theatre entrance. The main doors to this corridor are tall, not particularly wide and open outwards, so if you are a wheelchair user you may need some help here. The paths around the resort are level and wide and I noticed that staff coming towards me with trolleys would always stop to allow me past them. Yet another example of the incredible people and service here. The Preferred Beach Club quickly became my favourite place and it is boarded and the tables spaced so you can get around easily. Access to the actual beach section from the club does require walking on some sand though. The Beach itself has a Boardwalk leading to the beach bar and connecting both sides of the resort. This boardwalk isn't entirely level so could prove challenging to some. I stayed in a preferred junior swim out suite in building 16, so I was on the ground floor but there is a lift in all buildings. The room was mostly accessible with a small step into the shower and an inbuilt seat which was really helpful, but the large jacuzzi bath is very high sided so may be out of bounds to some. Please note that there is a step in the room between the bed and seating area. This is illuminated by a motion sensor light which is a thoughtful touch. I'm not sure if every room has this step or not, but I advise you check when booking. The swim out patio was fantastic. I found the swim out pool to be quite thoughtfully designed with terrace style steps which are shallow and wide. This meant that I could enter the water holding the wall for balance down to the top tier and could then arrange my float under myself before getting in deeper which was perfect. But please note that there are no handrails at all in these pools. The depth is 4ft. The resort itself is well proportioned but there is still a lot of walking if you are in the buildings nearest to the pool and beach, so just be aware of this as well. I hope you found this helpful. All in all the accessibility of the resort is really good and you will have a wonderful time!

This place is spectacular with over the top service. The hotel is absolutely beautiful. Roger the concierge in building 26 seemed to always be available and quickly responded to all of our requests. Jose, Hugo the beach concierge and Ana (waitress) at the beach seemed to know what we needed before we did & were watchful of us at all times. Beatrice for turn down service was the best! The activity team was great as well! The ONLY bad thing I have to say about this resort is the number of Bali beds that block the view of most of the chairs on the beach.

Quick Trip Report We have been traveling to Mexico for 20 years and have stayed in many AI What I like about this property: Staff – the best resource, they go out of their way to make sure you are cared for. Roberto was #1 ! Cant say enough about him. Buffet – the best of any AL I have been to (their breads and pastry are FRESH) Their Al La Cartes are on the same level as other high end AI – easy to get in to with little wait times. My favorite was the Mediterranean one, the Greek Chicken was wonderful The grounds were stunning and well kept -beautiful property. I loved all the jungle look surrounding this resort. We did preferred club - the preferred lounge was right around the corner – good to pop in for a coffee or drink Spa was very nice and was accommodating- plus some good discounts I am not a night owl – so I did not get to the shows, I wish they would have started earlier. Drinks were fine and a good variety Loved all the live music around the pools in the afternoon. The Pizza cart by the pool is a great idea for lunch or snack What I did not like Swim up was to cold to use and a waste for me Pools were also very chilly- I wish they would have heated one in March. Not many people were using them due to being chilly. The towel game was on due to the heavy sargassum on the beach – so no chairs unless you got one before 7. The bartenders at the swim out did not know what a Mexican Flag Shot was (and did not seem interested in making one) *** this is a tradition for us on our last day I would go back, but I would skip the swim out unless it is late summer.

The service people and the food were absolutely great. I want to give a shout out to building 14 concierge Angel who was extremely helpful, Fritz the social coordinator was awesome, super friendly, and helpful and to waiter Armondo at the Seaside grill who made lunch everyday a great visit. I do want to give a warning. As nice as the resort is STAY AWAY from the pharmacy. We paid 66usd for a tube of antibiotics that would be 10 at home. It was the only thing that gave us a poor impression

We chose to visit Secrets Maroma Beach for our honeymoon based on the countless 5 star reviews and 5 star diamond status. We were definitely not disappointed. From check in, to check out, everything was smooth and enjoyable. All of the staff are so friendly and welcoming, and they go above and beyond to make sure you’re happy. The entire resort was extremely clean. I expected the bathrooms near the beach & pool to be dirty, wet, and sandy, but even those spaces were always spotless. Our room was cleaned daily and never any complaints. Our preferred tropical king room was beautiful, clean, and spacious. The balcony and outdoor tub were so enjoyable and the garden view provided such relaxing nature sounds every morning. We had low expectations for resort food, but wow, were we ever blown away! There were very few dishes we found to be just okay. Everything else was absolutely delicious, fresh, and beautifully plated. Special shout out to our concierge Roberto for making our stay easy & always being available for questions. The bartender Eduardo at the Preferred Lounge was also so pleasant & remembered our drink orders after a couple nights! Leo from the entertainment team was fun and a great conversationalist. Every single staff member was incredible. The location was close enough to the airport, only a 35 minute drive. The beach location is gorgeous with turquoise water and white sand, although it did have sargassum most of our stay. The staff work all day trying to keep up with cleaning the sargassum off the beach. It really didn’t impact our stay much, we just couldn’t swim in the ocean. Not the resorts fault though! This is the perfect resort if you’re looking for a quiet, relaxing, couples vacation. The pool area does play music during the day but it’s not overly loud and it’s not “party music”. Country, classic rock, soft pop, & oldies were mostly the vibe. The resort has been beautifully renovated and the tropical feel can be felt and seen throughout. There is so much greenery which really makes it feel like a tropical vacation. We absolutely loved the look of the resort. The layout of the resort was easy to learn. It’s a smaller resort that is easily walkable which we loved. The pool was pretty busy and most people claim chairs early in the morning, but we did come during peak season so that was expected. It could’ve also been busier than usual at the pools due to the sargassum. We definitely will return one day. Hopefully sooner than later!

We just returned from a week at Maroma Beach with friends. ALL of us had a wonderful time and this resort exceeded our expectations. Why? First, we have been to a number of other all-inclusive resorts and rate this in the very top tier. Some people might question the value (from other reviews) but we thought that it was worth it - as well as did other guests we talked to. It feels a bit higher-end in a casual, laid-back way. We watched a number of videos on YouTube and it's prettier and more impressive in person. It's casual and has a lush, jungle feel. Second, one thing that stood out was that the resort's employees universally were the nicest, friendliest and most welcoming group of we have ever experienced. They were always smiling and asking what else they could do (we were in the Preferred Club but not sure that mattered). Third, the grounds were beautiful. When we first arrived, we thought it a bit large and spread out (we prefer smaller resorts) but once we learned our way around, it wasn't an issue, and actually an advantage. Lots to do. Also loved the beach where we spent most of our days. Good news - you do not have to get to the beach or pool at sun up to get a chair. There were plenty available until 9:30 - 10. We didn't go to the pool but that gets more crowded and noisier. The best part of staying in the Preferred Club was access to our own beach area, a beautiful lounge and separate restaurants. And a shout-out to our concierge, Roberto! Fourth, we found the food as good as or better than most all-inclusive resorts. Lots of choices. Very good buffet - better than most. Not huge but plenty of options - but most huge buffets are filled with things most people probably don't want. Also loved the special lunches and dinners - almost daily. So many choices! We ended up tipping at most meals because the service was so good and the waiters were so engaging and worked so hard. Fifth, the fitness club was fine, nothing special; clean. They had one picklebalI court. I think it is a modular interlocking sports tile system. It's probably a good outdoor all-weather surface but the ball doesn't bounce well and it plays slow and uneven. It's not a court if you are a more serious player and are looking to get in some good PB games - IMHO. In summary, we left thinking it's definitely a resort we will be going back to.
