Staff member was very friendly. Place is quiet and clean with plenty of parking, even when arriving late.
It was a comfortable stay, and the room was clean. My only complaints are minor: the heater/AC unit in the room is very noisy; and the valve for the hot water in the sink in the bathroom had been turned off (probably maintenance of some sort), and I had to get under the sink to turn it back on. Everything else was just fine.
Nice, typical Holiday Inn Express. It was clean, quiet and comfortable with a decent hot breakfast selection. Pool was indoors but not very warm; we swam and hung out at the hotel quite a lot and enjoyed it.
Our stay was very pleasant and the area was nice and quite really enjoyed it.

It was all good except the washing machine was out of order. Staff was excellent.
I was in Portales for business and booked the only room type available which was a King or Two Queen room. There was not an option to choose one or the other. I added my preference of a king bed on hotels.com. When I arrived I was booked into a double queen. I asked if there were king rooms available. The desk clerk stated that there were, however, because had paid for a queen room on hotels.com I would have to go through them to change my reservation to a king room. I showed the clerk my online booking which, did not persuade him to change my room type. I asked what the difference in price was and offered to pay it. He could not tell me “because I booked online”. He refused to call a manager several times until I insisted. When he called he came back and gave me the same story. I gave up and stayed in a queen room but I will not be back. There’s a brand new Best Western in Portales that several local folks have assured me is just great. Adios Holiday Inn!
