Wyndham Garden Otsego-Minneapolis

The front desk staff was great - when booking it wasn’t clear one room would be in my name and one in my guests name - so for 10 min we couldn’t find the other room. They were busy. They were very kind!!

The room was dirty, the remote wouldn’t work to turn the tv on. We couldn’t get WIFI to work even after contacting the front desk they said try tomorrow - but we left that morning.

Room was cozy, clean and staff at front desk were great and kind. Locker rooms could use some bleach and maybe a couple areas to hang up clothes while getting changed but otherwise awesome.

Pool nazis were insane. We brought in Starbucks and they saw us bring it in and then followed us around the pool and told us we couldn’t have it. We threw it away. Then they came up to us sitting at the table and told us our sparkling water had to be taken out also. That’s fine totally, we understand. I wish they would’ve told us before we even walked into the pool. They were clearly visible in our hands we we were at the pool check in area. Later on I went to our room to get a water bottle and came back to the pool. They proceeded to tell us we couldn’t bring in outside drinks and I could dump it out and fill it up inside. So I dumped out my water in the locker room and walked in and filled up my water by the concession area and sat down. Then a lifeguard/staff came up to me and gave me a scowl and said I couldn’t have that water bottle in the pool. I explained what happened and that I already dumped it out and they said I could bring it in and fill it up inside. He then glared at me and told me that wasn’t acceptable. I asked him if I could just put it away and he said I had to take it out. I then asked him if I could just dump it out so I didn’t have to go all the way back to my room and he said “I’m just gonna walk away”. He seemed very frustrated and I told him I wasn’t trying to be disagreeable. I just didn’t know what the clear rules were and have been told many different things. There has to be some leeway on bringing empty water bottles in and being able to drink them. I understand the necessity of no outside food/drinks to monitor drinking and keep money at the concessions but empty water bottles being filled up should have a pass. It was pretty ridiculous. They must’ve just had it out for us cause there was many people the next day at the pool that brought in huge bags of food and water bottles that never got spoken to. Just put a damper on our trip to keep being chased down by staff. Also very strict on the no kids in hot tub. FYI

The waterpark had the perfect attractions for a family with young children. The water temperature was very pleasant which is always a bonus for any adult who needs to be in the water with their kids. The location was great, easily accessible and close to retail stores. Check-in process was seamless, they even allowed us to check in 2 hours early which was very appreciated.

The waterpark area wasn't the cleanest and cosmetically left something to be desired. The same was true for the room (more specifically the bathroom). The hotel appears to have had a renovation at some point probably within the last 5 years or so but it appeared that they 'cut corners'. Finishes were a bit sloppy. The male lifeguard who wore a shirt plastered with 'MANAGER' across the back was very unfriendly. I never saw him smile once in the two days we stayed. While we never interacted directly with him, we certainly observed interactions from afar and he was off putting. We stayed during a very busy time and the staff struggled to keep the pool area stocked with towels.

Staff was amazing and friendly and made our stay extra special. Very fun time at the waterpark.

Just a couple minor things… the restaurant used to be more of a restaurant, now just seems like something they keep running as easily as possible. The cleanliness of the park, park bathrooms and even in the room (mostly the floors) wasn’t exceptional, but not awful. The rooms weren’t very quiet, which there’s not much the staff can do about that. All in all, we had a great time.

The window in the room wasn't (and wouldn't) closed all the way and between the HVAC units and the garbage truck in the morning, I was woken up by a loud dumpster banging noise. Still an amazing place to stay though.

They saved us from a horrible experience with the original hotel we had booked. Super nice staff. The waterpark was amazing.

We got the only room left for the night so didn’t really have a choice but a couch or a cot would have been nice.
