Holiday Inn Express Schaumburg-Rolling Meadows by IHG

The property as a whole is very clean and modern, and the staff friendly. The bathroom ceiling had minor water damage and the bathroom sink was dripping, but it was otherwise clean. The property itself, however, is very hard to get to, and you cannot make a left turn westbound on Rt. 62 to get to it—an Uber Eats order was cancelled because the driver couldn’t get there.

The property is out dated, one of the elevators was broken and all the ice machines were not working. The breakfast was OK, the breads, bagels and muffins were hard and not eatable. However the staff was wonderful the hotel was clean and the beds were super comfy. We stayed for the price and location to my moms place.

Our stay was pleasant for the most part. We have minor complaints. The main elevator was out of order. There was a maintenance elevator available, but that was on the opposite side of the hotel. My wife had pulled a muscle in her back the day before, so she did not like walking that far. We opted to take the stairs to our room on the 3rd floor. Also, the fan in the bathroom was too loud and couldn't be turned off. We were quite pleased with the breakfast, and the automatic pancake maker was cool.

Horrible place 1000931110 What a dump. Our United Airlines flight was cancelled and we got a Hotel Voucher. I have never had such a bad Holiday Inn Express experience. We were told at the airport that there was a hotel shuttle. Chicago is a very busy airport. We stood outside for 45 minutes and no shuttle. I called the hotel twice you can only leave a message. So we were talking to another couple and they were heading to the same hotel. They were told there is no shuttle. So we agreed to share a taxi. 8 miles cost $64!!! We get to the hotel and are assigned a room at the back right next to an exit. Someone put a rock in the door to keep it from closing. We removed the rock and tried to shut the door to lock it. We’re dealing with the door issue and this man came up on us. We both got this really creepy vibe from him. The door doesn’t shut all the way and won’t lock. We got into the room and it is obviously a room that never gets used. The curtain shade won’t close and it’s all crooked. So we go back to the front desk and request a different room. It’s slightly better. The only way we can connect to Wi-Fi is standing in front of the bathroom sink and even this it’s weak and keeps disconnecting. Our tv keeps going out because of lost signal. No surprise, breakfast is awful. Very minimal offerings. The worst Holiday Inn Express ever!!! And the creepy guy is lurking in the lobby. Don’t go here. Horrible. Beds were hard. Breakfast was cold, vending & ice machines were cold. Cancelled my stay & wasted my money!!

** I believe this hotel provides extra horrible rooms to distressed passengers. I would never stay here voluntarily and if an airline offered me this hotel again because of delay or cancellation I would sleep at the airport instead ** This is the worst hotel I have stayed at in at least a decade. The room smelled horrible, almost like rotting meat. I do not think the bed sheets were cleaned, the pillow cases smelled like body odor. There were several stains on the sheets and hair all over. I was on the first floor so there were some bugs, not a crazy amount, but there should be zero. I am an IHG Plat but because I was on a distressed passenger stay, the hotel did not provide points or recognize my status in anyway. That is fine, but do not expect your status to save you from a horrible stay here. Pictures show the bathroom air vent, which looks like it has never been cleaned and one of the many weird stains or food on my sheets.

Front desk was extremely friendly and helpful.

I don't appreciate my bathroom vent not working (for 2 years in a row) in a $140 room.

The Holiday Inn is very nice and the location is very convenient for us. The room was very clean and mostly updated. The breakfast is a nice amenity but the selection was limited and the food was cold. The juice machine was down to one selection. Because we have a dog they put us on the first floor. The rooms have been remodeled but appear well worn especially in the bathroom. There was no microwave, the internet spotty and there were wiring issues. The TV remote was missing. We do like this hotel and the staff is very nice. The building itself is just older and needs some interior work. The individual A/C and heating unit in the room is almost impossible to regulate especially in the winter. The room is either too warm or cool and very stuffy. A good idea would be to bring a portable humidifier. The price of the rooms are reasonable but the local taxes are high. Over all still are first choice for a hotel in the area. Just needs a little more attention to detail. We have stayed in the upper floor rooms which are very updated and plan to see we can negotiate for one of those rooms even with a dog.
