Hidden Valley Resort, an Ascend Collection Resort

From the time we arrived until we left, the staff were amazing and very helpful. I will certainly go again. The amenities were great. I forgot a very cherished necklace there when we left and we had arrived home. I spoke to Lawrence at the front desk and he went to the room we occupied and found it. I was thrilled!!! 2 days later and I had my necklace delivered to my home 4 hours away. Great service!!!

This hotel is in serious need of renovation and is ridiculously overpriced. I suspect it is in financial difficulty. We stayed 2 nights at $344 per night for a room that had a barely patched hole in the bathtub with a broken drain. Neither of the bedside lamps worked - one required an extension cord the other a burned out lightbulb. Also a burned out lightbulb in the bathroom. The tv remote did not work. There were potato chips on the rug in the hall that were still there when we left. The breakfast buffet for $16 each was horrible. Cold scrambled eggs served on paper plates and cold coffee in cardboard cups. We tried to speak with the manager named Evan but he was not to be found the whole time we were there.

It was a connecting room. Voices could be heard through the door! Only 1 facecloth that was stained! Breakfast wasn't very good.

Again not senior friendly Rest areas had alot of cigarette butts on ground

We visited this resort just for couple of days to check it out for possible next year visit with a larger group. It was a disappointment and we will have to look elsewhere. While the room accommodation was almost acceptable with only small problems like poor sink drainage and sliding door very difficult to close, the "resort" could not really be called a resort. The tennis and basketball courts were in appalling state with cracks and grass growing in them. Worse than in any public park. Some pavement upheaved to the point of tripping hazard.. The small beach had a lot of loungers, but 95% of them are very, very worn out or broken. Wouldn't want to sit there. The boating area had a few kayaks canoes and windsurfers. Could not try any because the office with lifejackets was open only for few hours as this was a low season. We did not use swimming pools, but on the first day the outdoor one was full of leafs and dirt - absolutely not inviting. The hotel charges $30 (+tax) "resort fee" on top of room rate - totally unjustified for what can be used. Breakfast was available for $16 (+tax) and the restaurant is big, but the selection was limited and you eat on paper plates and drink from paper cups. Almost equivalent to a cheap Econo Lodge breakfast, where it usually is free. With all the fees and taxes our price of $175/night became $240/night, despite the low season. Totally not worth. Could go to one of the motels in Huntsville for half of this price, and get an equivalent stay. Needles to say we will not return here and will not recommend it to anyone.
