Marriott's Monarch at Sea Pines

The villa was very clean and well kept. Plenty of supplies and lots of storage. However, my issues pertain to communication and construction. Construction was underway in the parking lot severely limiting parking options. I would also mention that the lots are narrow so proceed with caution. The fire alarm went off one afternoon while I was napping. After exiting, a construction worker told us it was a "test only" alarm. This is a time share or owners property. We were called multiple times to take advantage of a special deal and take the tour. We asked to discontinue these calls as we had just returned from a funeral and needed to rest. The calls are annoying and would prevent me from using this property again.

Loved that it was right on the beach for daily walks and bike rides. Extremely clean and very friendly staff.

I love the Monarch, arguably one of the best available anywhere on the island. Can get quite pricey during the peak season. I was here with my mom and rented a 2 bedroom Oceanside unit. Beautiful and well-maintained.

This property has great amenities and the staff is always super friendly and kind! The room was so clean and spacious. The best part is that the best is right behind the pool area. I definitely recommend this property and will be visiting again!

We had an excellent stay. I can only speak on customer service & the room. We did not walk the property or do any activities at the resort.

Quiet and enjoyable stay

This was by far the worst Marriott experience ever and we are faithful Marriott folks. I understand this is a “Vacation Club” Marriott and they have “owners” but I am a guest too! So, we decided to have a long weekend stay - the day after thanksgiving through Sunday. I called before we left to ask if we could check in early and before I got even another word out, Juan said, “No! We never allow guests to check in early because we have owners and our owners….” He went on and on and didn’t let me speak. Cutting me off each time I tried to talk. I merely wanted to ask if we could check in early because it was the day after thanksgiving and I thought maybe the room might be vacant. He ended up never letting me speak or talk after I uttered the words “early checking.” When we arrived at 4 pm I asked the desk clerk Joseph if the room had been vacant and he said, “Yes! No one was in that room yesterday. You could have checked in early!” We lost an entire day because Juan doesn’t know how to LISTEN and wanted to talk over me. He didn’t know how to find a SOLUTION for me. He just wanted to be right. He won’t last. And we will never stay there again. Also, the “ocean front villa” is on the side of the building! I paid extra for a side half view obstructed by trees and the hotel walls! Finally, before even 8am you cannot sit on the balcony and enjoy the half view because they have a maintenance guy going around with a screeching blower to clean up leaves - for over an hour!!!! Use a broom.

The location is great - in Sea Pines and on the beach. As with all Marriott Vacations Clubs, the unit is well equipped. But, we will never return. The worst feature is the seating. This is the most uncomfortable upholstery I have ever encountered. The problem has been mentioned on other posts but I never believed the magnitude. I developed a back ache for the first time in my life! Six days into a ten day stay, I abandoned the living room and began a slow recovery! Beware. The other problem was the shower head. I was a bit shocked to discover only one single use shampoo per bathroom. But, after attempting to wash my hair, I discovered the reason. Twenty minutes of shower time had not produced enough water pressure to fully rinse my hair. This is a water wasting -not saving- device. Likewise, light is insufficient for reading a book or applying make-up. Yes, I appreciate conserving resources. I was happy to reuse sheets and towels but I need to sit and see.

Villa was exceptionally clean, great location right on the beach. Will definitely return
