Athlone Springs Hotel

Unfortunately, the experience didn’t live up to what we would expect from a 4-star hotel. On arrival around 2.30pm, our room was not ready until approximately 3.45pm. While we understand check-in is officially at 4pm, in other 4-star hotels we’ve stayed in, rooms are usually prioritised fairly quickly when families arrive early. There was also nothing available to keep young children entertained while waiting, apart from the pool, so we ended up walking around the supermarket next door just to pass the time. The initial receptionist we dealt with was not particularly warm or welcoming, which didn’t give the best first impression. However, the second receptionist we met later was absolutely lovely and very friendly, which we appreciated. The room itself was nice, but we were disappointed to find chocolate wrappers left behind, especially after the long wait to access the room. Dinner in the bar was also disappointing. The chips were cold and had to be sent back, our daughter’s pizza was wet underneath, and when we ordered a main portion of chicken wings (€17), a starter-sized portion was served instead which had 7 chicken wings on the plate so I had question this as I was not willing to pay that amount for 7 chicken wings. On a positive note, the pool was nice and clean, and aside from the initial interaction, most staff we encountered were friendly. Overall, while there were some positives, we would not consider this a 4-star standard experience, particularly for families with young children.

Brought the kids to the Santa Village. Lots of different rooms with different elves and activities which were all great. The Santa was quite poor, didnt really talk a lot to the kids. The biggest flaw was that the experience didnt include a photograph with Santa. For the price paid I thought this was very disappointing and we had to go to a different experience a few days later to get a photo.

Had a lovely stay here. Room spacious bright and quiet. Great power shower. Staff helpful. Breakfast buffet standard. Overall great value. We hope to stay again!

Overall, my stay here was quite good. I will start with the positives. - The room was spacious and well designed. It was also clean. - The pool area was very nice, although it was very crowded. - The food in the bar was nice. The menu offered good choice. - The lobby is bright, spacious and well decorated for Christmas. - There is plenty of free parking. - It is located next to a SuperValu which is really handy. - I felt that it offered good value for money compared to many other nearby hotels. There were few things that I felt could have been better. - When I checked in, I felt the receptionist was not very friendly, and very little information was given. - Service in the bar was extremely slow. I waited nearly 30 minutes for a drink, despite the fact that the bartender appeared to be emptying and filling the dishwasher rather than actually making drinks. My food was also taken to the wrong table first despite the fact that I had been waiting 40 minutes. There were lots of staff about but only one seemed to actually be taking orders and serving customers even though it was very busy. - Breakfast was table service only despite having the facilities to be set up for a buffet. I felt a buffet would have offered more variety, and also would have been a quicker. - The room service menu was very limited and I felt a €7 tray charge was a bit steep. Overall, my stay here was fairly pleasant, and I would probably stay here again.

Check in was seamless and our room was clean with a very comfortable king sized bed. The leisure facilities are super with a pool, steam room, sauna and jacuzzi to unwind in. Breakfast had lots of choice with good quality ingredients. We will definitely return to stay at The Athlone Springs Hotel.

Excellent bedroom and breakfast. Barfood - great choice and again excellent. It is a friendly and welcoming hotel,absolutely lovely staff. Hence,we had a very pleasant stay.

We had a large family reunion here at the end of November. Well I cannot say enough good things about this hotel, from the point of enquiry, Sanna in reservations went above and beyond to help out with our (many!) queries and requests, and nothing was ever too much trouble. Then came the weekend itself, check in went off without a hitch, rooms / bathrooms beautiful, breakfast was absolutely gorgeous, lots of choice, every member of staff so accommodating, especially the gentleman that looked after us in the Burnbrook Suite (I'm so sorry, I cannot remember his name!), but he served our party of 40 people and did it with a smile and the patience of a saint!! The food in the bar and also the set meal on the Saturday night was absolutely gorgeous too. Thank you very much for making our stay so special, and we will look forward to returning to your beautiful hotel again soon. ****A few things to note - the hotel is located in a little area where there is EVERYTHING you need, there's a Supervalu, pharmacy, and a hair & beauty salon RIGHT next door (with a special mention for Vanessa in Hair Glow, where a few of our party had hair and make up done on the Saturday, fabulous salon and great prices too). ***

I was a carer travelling with elderly vulnerable adult and her bedroom was freezing cold . it took 1 hr for some to come to assist with the heat at 23;00 after i had to ring them a second time . they provided a portable heater which i could not leave plugged in for the night which resulted in the bedroom being freezing in the morning . the general environment within the hotel felt cold also on our stay. this would not deter us from staying there again it just put a dampner to our stay

Very nice hotel bit of a walk from room back to restaurant - not great when bringing bags but room was nice and bed comfortable

It's 1.43am in the morning and I can't sleep with the noise of the music. I tried ringing reception, no answer! The room is dusty, cold, no heating on (thank god there was a blanket in the wardrobe), no safe for valuables and the pillows are tiny 😆 As for the bathroom, it could do with a dusting for sure and the floor definitely needs a good wash.
