"Solo, Sun, and Slightly Shaken by Bass"

8.0

I traveled to Bahia Principe Explore La Romana in the Dominican Republic as a solo female traveler for my birthday in April and honestly, it was a great choice. First things first: getting there? Easy. Airport to reception? Smooth. Check-in? Quick and painless. We love a stress-free arrival. The resort itself is beautiful, well-kept, clean and the staff were friendly and welcoming. My room was perfectly located near both the beach and the pool, which made me feel like I had VIP access without even trying. Now… let’s talk about night one. There was a beach party, and when I say the bass rattled my bones, I mean my ancestors probably felt it too. Thankfully, it wrapped up around 10:15 PM, and peace was restored. After that? Slept like a baby the rest of the trip. The room was consistently clean, and housekeeping showed up daily like clockwork; fresh towels, made bed, everything you need. Food overall was good and the fridge in your room is stocked. There is something for every dietary restriction under the sun. Now, beach lovers here’s the deal. Jellyfish are a thing. And unfortunately, that’s nature doing what nature does. Swim at your own risk. I went in the water every single day and came out undefeated, but I did meet a few couples who weren’t as lucky. So… choose your fighter wisely. Overall? Great trip. Great experience. Very relaxing. This is NOT a party hotel so if you’re trying to live your best nightlife life, you might want to look into Punta Cana. But if your goal is to unwind, recharge, and enjoy some peaceful beach time… this is it. Would I go back? Absolutely.

The staff are amazing. Very friendly and fun. The resort is very clean and beautiful.

People reserving lounge chairs with a towel for hours, despite the signs not to. This is not enforced.

"Mala relación calidad-precio y le bajaría alguna estrella"

La piscina

El bufet la comida estaba muy regular. Para ser un cinco estrellas hay muchos detalles que mejorar, las toallas de la piscina están deshilachadas, la bañera picada, en el armario la madera rota… son detalles que un cinco estrellas no debería tener.

"Good but it could be better"

8.0

They got the potencial to improve, it’s a nice hotel and I love the fact that is closer than Punta Cana to me, good options were not the best, but they have an amazing staff!! My room was good too I was closed to the lobby and coffe shop but far away from the pool and the beach. My kids enjoyed their stay but there are not enough attractions for kids though.

"Great family resort with something for everybody"

10.0

Great resort. We were there with a large family including 2 kids (ages 4 & 6) and a few over 70. The pool was nice and two kiddie pools nearby made it accessible for the kids to stay busy. The beach was beautiful and great for sandcastles, but disappointing because the water was cloudy and full of jellyfish. They have flags warning about the jellies but we still tried swimming, got stung 3 times within a few steps of going in the water. So swimming in the ocean was off the table unless you pay to go on excursion to a nicer beach. The buffet was amazing, so many delicious things and dietary options with special meals every night. The à-la-carte restaurants looked o.k. but didn’t have much for our gluten-free family members. Dinner service doesn’t start until 6:30pm which is late for young families. All the bars were consistent and had very friendly staff making delicious drinks. There are kids events but a bit lackluster. Some of the kids staff didn’t seem interested in the work, or maybe they didn’t speak english. Nightly 8:15pm show for kids (so late!) was just dancing to the same music each night with Spanish instructions, most kids were up on stage yawning with no idea what to do. The adult show afterwards was ok but if you want to call it an early night you will be kept up by the show regardless since it is extremely loud. We could hear it through our windows at the other end of the resort. The ride from the airport feels long but that’s nothing they can control. About 1hr15m. Checkin/out was quick and easy. The whole place seems to be in really good condition and has been kept up very well.

"Solid Week in La Romana"

8.0

This was a spur-of-the-moment trip to escape the horrendous Canadian winter. The bus to La Romana was about an hour and a half drive, but it didn't feel overly long or dragged out. The room was very pretty, really missing a full-length mirror here. Noise level was fine until the last couple of evenings, when we got new neighbours, and they were screaming after coming home at like 2:00 am. I do believe it was extra loud as we had a conjoining room. The resort felt clean and tidy, and the staff were always working to keep it that way. The staff was friendly throughout the resort and during our stay. I did find in the evening by the lobby bar that there were not enough servers to get drinks for those sitting around, so you had to go to the bar, wait and come back with drinks. Not a huge thing, but worthy of a mention. The Drinks were always delicious. Food was great, there was always a good selection of classics and something new to try at the buffet and snack bar. Always chairs available by the pool or beach. Would recommend water shoes as there were a lot of jellyfish.

"NOT A RESORT FOR BEACH LOVERS."

2.0

The resort is ideal for guests who enjoy spending most of their time in the pool. In many ways, the property is excellent—beautiful, clean, and well-maintained, with great food and service. However, the beach is a major disappointment. Although the view is stunning, the water quality is very poor due to a nearby river flowing into the sea, making it muddy and more like canal water than ocean water. There’s none of the clarity or freshness you would expect from a beach destination. Because of these conditions, there were frequent jellyfish near the shore, and the purple flag was raised throughout our stay. We attempted to enter the water, but it simply wasn’t safe or enjoyable. It’s unfortunate, as the resort itself is wonderful—but it should not be marketed as a beach resort given the condition of the water.

"Waste of a vacation !!"

2.0

I paid for two adults but was only given two dinner reservations for a six-night stay, leaving us stuck eating at the buffet for the other four nights. I’ve been to numerous all inclusive resorts and this was a first. At check-in, after seeing my son’s passport, staff changed his wristband to a child’s band due to his age (17), yet refused to reimburse any difference, stating adult pricing starts at age 13. This policy is confusing and unfair. I also want to address the misleading photos used to advertise the resort. The ocean is shown as clear Caribbean blue, but in reality, it is brown and murky, similar to the Jersey Shore. A nearby river about a quarter mile away dumps muddy water into the ocean, making it unappealing and unswimmable. We brought snorkeling gear but didn’t go in the water at all. Overall, this was a very disappointing and frustrating experience that did not match what was advertised, and it felt like a complete waste of our trip.

"poor 5 stars"

4.0

Hi, I feel like I need to write my experiences for my 10-day stay at the Bahia Principe Bouganville luxury resort . What was good was the green, lush gardens. At first, the place seems very clean and welcoming i arrived at 8.30 pm, and the check-in was fast, also someone led me to my room. Again, it was a big room with a good-sized bathroom and a very comfy bed. I was late and wanted to go to the restaurant before they closed i went to the Los Conzales, and it was fairly empty. The waitress asked me if I had reserved a table -no, I said, because I just arrived -so I was denied entry, so i had to go to the buffet restaurant, and this time in the evening the whole buffet was like a battlefield -also i took some food and went to my room to unpack -in this moment i had this smell of damp in the air then my bedlinen smelled the same, i thought ok by tommorow its gone no the next morning i went to the reception and told them the problem and ask if there could replace all the linen from my bed -no problem and the answer was the smell come from the fresh paint in the room -so there did put in a deumifyer to clear the air did not help i decided to keep the room because i only used to sleep in -the food was good in all the a la carte restaurants and the breakfast was good too -by the 2pools were constant the sunbeds blocked at 6.30 am with towels even there are signs saying its not allowed to reserve sunbeds the beach is not the best the water is really dark because of the nearby river -i was aware of -the Drink service on the poolsbars took 40 min and were poor -nobody got dressed for dinner t-shirts flip flops and a lot of drunken guest in the a la carte restaurants anything goes in this place -the Bars in the evening are very good but you have to pay extra for quality vodka etc...even it says in the brochure all in also highend brands -This hotel is far out from the Town and very expensive to go out - The tabac shop is a real rip-off and very unfriendly, and does not know the product. The management is not really helpful to your needs, and only saying we don't do this is not in our system. Very disappointing, my 10 days cost a lot of money, and I was not really comftabale in this % star Hotel
