York Hotel

A very quirky hotel, full of character! It is a cheap hotel, and you will understand for the price. But who can complain when desperate? Bed sheets are clean and the room warm, that is all that is needed. The staff is very nice and understanding. Big thumbs up for their hard work and keeping their spirit up despite the area!

Because 1 of us trying to check in we were refused access. We were therefore left on the street at 10:30 during the Covid lockdown. Extremely annoyed and doubt I would ever use this hotel again

Ok in terms of value for money, but it is a cheap base for backpackers and DSS claimants and should not really be listed here as a hotek

Horrifying

I was told it is a budget 'hotel' but Ive been to budget hotels with far better facilities e.g laundry and ironing. To allow individuals waiting to be rehoused to live in such an environment is unacceptable let alone paying guests. Granted there was hot water and there was a room service of some sort. My towels were changed and bed made so no criticism to the individual. The criticism is for staff to put up with subnormal working ethics and condition. The hotel was carpetted and there was a smell of urine and excrement on my floor. The hostel I stayed in was 70 percent better and cheaper. They should not be charging more than £17 per night. I didnt even pay that amount for the hostel.

This is not a hotel. It is a place where people who are entitled but have nowhere to stay in the area are accommodated by the authorities. If the odour and lack of facilities suit you on terms of budget then so be it. Oh and Parking? - Best of luck with that!

Hotel was noisy the local area what a joke my car was broken into my belongings stolen as i was loading up to leave for work the hotel reception have cctv but refused me access to it saying only manager could do it in a 1 months time as they are on holiday they seemed to be very evasive of questions almost like They were hiding something why would you not wish to help a distressed member of an ambulance service in full uniform unless of course your the one who told the theives when and what i was putting in the car. Police have been informed of my suspicions and will be foklowing up on info provided.

Motel it should be called, rather than a hotel. Basic Necessities are not available.

Walked in to the hotel which looked more like an old hospital than a hotel and when checking in was told that there was a £10 deposit needed for the key (which was NOT on the website and which I did not have) the person at the desk told me he would need to take something so I gave him £3 as a deposit. Walked up to the room and opened the door to see what looked more like a homeless shelter than a hotel. The beds were mattresses set on 2 separate blocks, there was a smell of damp, there were no curtains only blinds which did not cover the window and were curled up from the damp, there was a fridge with no evidence of any sort of electrical safety checks being done on it, the desk in the room was broken and the fire alarm was in the desk drawer rather than where it should be on the roof detecting smoke. As well as this the facilities were shared, which I have no problem with however it was 2 toilets and 1 shower between 14 ROOMS. After half an hour, we decided enough was enough and checked out. The chap at the desk asked if something was wrong, I explained all of the above to him and he didn't seem to surprised. Thankfully, I got my £3 back. I highly recommed this place if you are on a trip looking for Britain's worst dives, if not then AVOID.
