The Mary Arden Inn

The bedroom was clean, spacious and tidy. The bed was very comfortable. However, recent building alterations, room 6; cold tap worked anti clockwise.

I don't believe it was the owners fault as he had just taken on the property recently but Booking.com advertised 'accommodation include breakfast', not so, unless you waited until 8am (business/working starts before this time) So i arrived, the owner didn't realise i was booked, said no supper as no staff & breakfast was not available before 8am. However i did get charged for breakfast as it was included in my 'bedrfoom fee'. Ended up going up the road to Nisa shop to buy breakfast. Booking.com shouldn't have advertised this property until the owner was ready for guests, very disapoointed having travelled 2 hours to get to this property.

Cheerful and pleasant staff who were working flat out. Good beer and food. Lovely room with four poster but see below…

Noisy room. Hot night and room overlooked beer garden and car park. Even after the pub closed there were people making noise in the garden, followed by kids kicking a football in the car park until 1130pm. No fan.

Newly decorated rooms, clean and pleasant. The pub itself is lovely as is the village.

A few things that made the stay less than great - charged again for the room despite paying when I booked (refunded afterwards happily), no milk for drinks (and no offer to get any), despite paying for breakfast when we arrived half of the items weren't available the next morning and organisation at the check in desk could do with some work.. I know the new management had been there only a week, but perhaps could do with some time without guests to iron out some teething issues.

It’s a traditional pub so lots of character but some sound does travel from the bar to the rooms immediately above. We had 4 rooms and the top floors rooms were quiet.

We were warmly welcomed. The rooms were pristine clean and comfortable. We were able to leave our luggage after check out in order to spend part of our final day in Stratford, returning later to pick things up.

Lovely location, nicely renovated.

Reception could have been more professional.

Very uncomfortable mattress, not what you expect in a hotel room.
