My reservation was cancelled same day I arrive. I had to find a hotel to stay at I will never book with hotel.com or book with Howard Johnson ever again. It’s not what they say and I don’t recommend to no one

"Run away"

I have travelled extensively in my life and, without doubt, is the worst hotel to which I have ever been. You could not lock your room door when you went out. When we said that was unacceptable, suddenly our reservation was no longer valid. Other guests were complaining of malfunctioning toilets and black mould. The staff are appallingly rude and slovenly. They wanted to charge me a non-refundable “deposit” of $250 for my service dog. A disgraceful place.

"I Demand a Refund!!!!!!"

To whom it may concern: I was a "guest" at your Howard Johnson's in Houma on Fri and Sat evening this week. Feb 28- Mar 1 To say this was a sheer and utter debacle is putting it mildly. I arrive and have to argue with the front desk as the amount I booked on Hotels.com was $65 a night, and she was trying to charge me $180 a night. Aside from the terrible stench in the elevator and my room, the TV also wasn't working. However, I was not given a key to enter my room because the keys didn't work. I had to come to the front desk and ask for my room to be opened everytime I wanted to enter my room. All of this enough to demand a refund, but it gets even better. Fast forward to Saturday. I depart for my event at 6:30 am and return around 3 o'clock...exhausted, needing a shower, and in desperate need of sleep. Now on Saturday, they can't get in any of the rooms AT ALL!!!! All of my stuff for my evening event is STILL IN MY ROOM WHICH I CANNOT GET INTO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I can't book another room because I need the crap out of MY ROOM!! Now, I'm sitting in the lobby, missing my award dinner, because I can't access my room!! I expect a FULL REFUND OF THIS CLUSTER!!! I also expect a call confirming that this will be done AT ONCE. I am copying my attorney on this email as I will 100% make a civil claim for failure to deliver and will then seek punitive damages on top of actual damages incurred. I'm awaiting your call

"Unethical and Unsafe Business Practices"

I am writing to express my dissatisfaction and seek immediate resolution. Upon arrival at midnight, following a full day of travel, we were surprised by an unexpected price adjustment, which was required for check-in. This experience was extremely disappointing, unprofessional, and unpleasant, particularly in light of the pandemic. The hotel failed to adhere to safety protocols, and its overall condition was poor. The carpets, walls, and sheets were stained, and the pillowcases smelled of perfume. Furthermore the bathroom was dirty, with hair on the floor and elsewhere. Being forced to pay $179 upfront, under threat of being denied check-in, was unacceptable. The hotel's sheets were dirty, the floors unvacuumed, and the bathroom unclean. Cigarette burns were found on the sheets, and the room reeked of cigarettes. I request that a manager contact me immediately to rectify this situation and unfortunately there hasn’t been any communication.

"Be Prepared to spend more when you arrive!"

Be prepared to pay a deposit up to $50. they promise to credit back the deposit upon departure, but it won't happen. Don't use Booking.com. They don't accept Booking.com's terms, so you'll likely face an additional charge. Just walk in. They never are over booked and it's always the cheapest. Because Booking.com and Howard Johnson's does not cooperate, expect a difference in what they charger and the charge at the motel. I was charged an additional $22.98 for two nights, plus the $50 deposit was not returned. The management will insist they refunded the deposit, but you won't see it. EVER. The manager can be reached at 985-872-2627 from 8 to 11 am weekdays, but really to no avail. I think the franchise owner never approves the refund. The corporate office is Wyndham. Their number is 973-753-6000. They will tell you to email Howard Johnson at hjhouma@gmail.com. However, the manager will tell you no one responds to emails. Solution: If you decide ultimately to stay here and get fleeced, you can always dispute the any extra charges and the deposit with your bank and the bank will likely refund you (as I did).

"Do not recommend this location at all"

Mold everywhere, rooms are filthy, staff is very unprofessional, and will not make accommodations. Staff refused to move my room, then refused to check me out, and issue me a refund for my 3 day 2 night stay. Do not recommend spending your money at this location.
