"Old Motors Club Raduno"

10.0

We organised a raduno for the Old Motors Club with 30 vintage cars. We stayed at Regent Beach Hotel. We even had dinner at the hotel. The rooms were very clean, service excellent and staff friendly and helpful. We recommend this hotel. Nino was great to meet all our demands. Thank you

"Relaxing stay and good base"

10.0

We stayed here for 4 nights/3 days as a mother-daughter trip. Hotel had good amenities, lovely pool area with lots of sun loungers and waking through the apartments you are the beautiful private beach (cost €6 a day to hire a lounger). Staff were great, so friendly and couldn’t do enough to help. Everyone said hello and particularly shout out the the two ladies on reception who went out their way to book us train tickets, arrange taxis to/from airport (including a refund after being overcharged - should be €35 each way). We had a standard twin room. Enough space for us and appreciates the fridge, tv and balcony. Air con was noisy so didn’t tend to use it, but was good for what we needed. Nice view of the town and could see the sea and the mountains. The room comes with some many complimentary toiletries, inc razor and cream, shampoo, shower gels and toothbrush/toothpaste, which was more than standard so was very impressed. Breakfast was a buffet. No hot food. Just breads, cereals, cakes, pastries etc. lady serving was very friendly and couldn’t do enough to help us. Great location to explore the Reggio Calabria area without a car (train station is a 10 min walk) so we took a day trip to Scilla (a must do!) and Messina. Please note, the trains that stop at Catona station were typically every 2 hours. Hotel and general area were very quiet, could be as we came to end of season so there is only really 1-2 places to eat. We ate in the restaurant one night, good food but the servers were preoccupied with a private function so they never asked if we wanted drinks or dessert. We also had to pre book which was a big difficulty. The cafe at the lido was good value and tasty panins. I’d recommend the Garage Al Mare, the atmosphere and prices were great. Only a few mins walk from hotel but as there isn’t many options near the hotel, it’s a hidden gem.

"Very clean hotel, with a good pool, charming staff and easy to get to airport"

8.0

We chose this hotel because we had a very early flight and a previous review had said that it was a quick trip to get to the airport (it was!). But the receptionist was charming and let us check in early, the rooms were clean and very well equipped with toiletries, towels and pillows. There was a nice pool with loungers which was very welcome on a hot day as a break from seeing the lovely sights of Reggio Calabria. There was free parking outside. The 24 hour reception also made it very easy to check out. I would definitely recommend it.

"Good"

4.0

The hotel was clean but the shower was so tiny, you couldn’t even close the door in order to fit in it. Nowhere in the description did it say there was no maid service. The mattress on the bed was so flat and probably the most uncomfortable thing I ever slept on. The TV has no service. They charge you for a beach chair. You have to carry your luggage to and from the room. This is far from a 4 star hotel and not worth the money.

"Tad disappointing "

6.0

When we looked on trip advisor we were expecting a very good, proper four-star hotel and we were unfortunately disappointed. The service was not good. An example would be when we had to move room due to a pungent smell coming from our bathroom. Usually this isn't such a big deal and we can just move to the nearest room with no stress. But this time we weren't offered any help what so ever. Even though the room in general was clean we weren't offered enough shampoo and shower gel nor was there wifi in the room or a working safe. The reason why I didn't rate it a two was the restaurant beside it. The food there is very good and I was not once disappointed. The waiter was super friendly and the atmosphere was great.

"Not a four star hotel"

4.0

Regent Hotel is not a bad hotel: clean and nicely decorated with a private beach and a decent restaurant. However it is not a four star hotel by far. Nice things like phone in your room, free wifi, safe etc. don’t work. The stuff is smiling, and some of them are even helpful. The ‘private’ beach charges you extra for entry and doesn’t even provide beach towels. Parking on the street is awkward. They also seem to have plumbing problems. In short, it doesn’t worth the money. Restaurant though provided a very good service and good quality meals.

"False Façade!"

2.0

The hotel building is beautiful, but that is all. The grounds are dirty, unkempt and nothing like the pictures. The gorgeous pool in the pictures was full of bugs, leaves, tiles were missing, and the poolside bar was empty and torn apart. The dinner, one pork chop and a wilted salad, was disgusting. The walk to the beach was nauseating with all the garbage piled up on the beach. Be warned that this is a town that shuts down from 2pm (14,00) until 7:30pm/8:00pm (19,30/20,00) and there is nowhere to eat. My husband and I were supposed to stay for 3 days. We stayed for one night, forfeited our original train tickets, spent another 100€ on train tickets and went back to Rome. The staff was accommodating, but utterly unhelpful. Was not a picturesque place to spend our 25th wedding anniversary!
