Express hotel

the hotel is a bit run down but the location is excellent and the price is reasonable.

Only fair hotel and service. Wi-Fi was inconsistent and slow to get service.

A real value. We were on an upper floor and we had great views of the city. We took many pictures. At night the brightly lit avenue leading to the train station was quite pretty. The convenience of the location is not to be missed if you like to travel by train as we do. I was impressed by the finish details: good materials nicely used. The room was about the size we were used to in London (that is, about the size of an American university dormitory room). My wife and found the beds to be firm and very comfortable. We enjoyed the breakfast buffet in the restaurant on the top floor. We would stay at the hotel again. We liked the hotel enough to show it to a colleague. Kyiv looks wonderful! (We lived here 2002 to 2005.) We recommend a visit.

This is a Soviet era hotel that has been well maintained. The restaurant on the top floor serves good food and has great views. It is close to the train station and the national circus (an indoor facility). The desk staff spoke passable English. Beds are typical Eastern European, hard by American standards. It is not walking distance to the primary points of interest, but you should learn to use the local transit system anyway. Overall a good experience.

Booked this hotel because it was up the street from the train station, and it had a nice cafe with a view. Got some cool photos from up there in the morning, though it seemed that the cafe was closed for dinner while we were there. In all, the folks at this hotel were kind and helpful. Arrived early, and they allowed us to check in early with no extra fees. There are some nice restaurants and a Metro station close by. Not quite in the "city center" like some places, but many attractions are walkable. Included breakfast was good. I'd recommend this hotel!

The hotel is quite expensive compared to the service you get. The only positive thing is probably that it is quite close to the railway station, although if you have a moderately heavy luggage you would still need to get a taxi as the hotel is about 10-15 minutes from the station. There is a brand new Ibis Hotel just accross the street and that would be my choice next time I travel to Kiev. The breakfast buffet is quite generous but there is basically no sweet food (muffins, sirniki or jam etc) and not everyone is keen on having meatballs, Russian salads and salami first thing in the morning.
