Guildford Manor Hotel & Spa

I chose the hotel based on the spa and location. When I arrived the hotel was exceptionally busy, with no parking (I had to park in a no designated space) and lots of people noisily drinking in the bar area near the hotel reception. Check in was quick with no discussion around the use of the spa, swimming pool, restaurant or room service. I had to request the info which seemed to disappoint the receptionist. My room was at the top of the building via more than one flight of stairs, no lift. I am an able bodied person but if i wasn't this would have been horrendous. The room only opened and locked ok n the key, with no retaining spring handle catch on the door, so if not locked the door would swing open. The bathroom was unclean, with unknown black liquid stains on the cream tiles. The room window had been left open, with the Aircon running, which had brought flies into the room. No plug sockets near the bed, so charging was across the room. The guests on either side of my room were incredibly noisy from my room check in to the very early hours of the morning, and although I called down to reception multiple times the phone was not answered so I was unable to report it. I did walk down in the evening at the point of exasperation and although I waited at reception for some time no receptionist was available and I was tired. I did also knock on the guest doors and was met with hostility. When I checked out in the morning I was met with a inconsiderate receptionist who didn't apologise and instead contested my account of the stay. All in all this was not a relaxing stop over and I would definitely not recommend this hotel for either the spa, atmosphere, cleanliness or supportive staff. All of the guests I encouraged felt very entitled and were excessively drinking and partying into the early hours. This could have been a one off celebration, but I would not know that and will not be staying again to find out. I wouldn't advocate anyone else stopping either if clean and relaxing break is the desired outcome

None of the spa facilities worked. Dirty laundry outside our room for 24hrs. Staff very rude and unhelpful when you could actually find a member of staff. Someone walked into our room - didn’t knock. Dirty ashtrays left on tables outside all night. Very very disappointed with the whole experience

Beautiful location and great value for money! The restaurant food was absolutely delicious and the grounds are lovely for a relaxing evening stroll.

We had a minor issue of the previous tenant flooding the room we were staying in! However the staff were very helpful and we were provided with extra towels to dry the carpet as well as a bottle of wine and dessert on them! So happy with the resolution.

Beautiful location. Lovely gardens. Set in acres of space. Free parking. Great spa facilities. Decent restaurant. All this for the price of a more budget hotel.

The room needed doing when I got there but it was done quickly.

The location was very nice.

The service. We had booked a superior double. It was very disappointing. A Premier Inn room is much better. We were given directions to the room, not shown to it. The hotel is very, very tired. The grounds were unkempt. The towels were well worn. The toiletries were skimpy. The tea and coffe etc. was also skimpy. It was all very sloppy. We were expecting much more.

Room 6 is absolutely terrible. There is a noise outside or nearby, constantly through the night, some sort of heating or industrial system. The bed is also very short. I had one of the worst night’s sleep I can think of. The bath wasn’t draining properly and I think the air con stopped in the night. Unacceptable for £100 to be honest.

We had an accident and this hotel did not help us at all. Bad rooms, no understanding of our needs and just cared about getting our money. Shame on you. Also this hotel is a dump Do Not Stay here unless you like to be treated like just a number
