Guildford Manor Hotel & Spa

We stayed at this hotel in April as part of a wedding party, and unfortunately the experience was extremely disappointing. While the wedding itself was lovely and the staff were polite, the condition of the hotel and our room was far below an acceptable standard. The toilet in our room was loose and pulled away from the wall when used, which was especially concerning as one of our party is disabled. Despite reporting it on arrival, we were told nothing could be done because the hotel was fully booked. The room had multiple maintenance issues including a loose light fitting, a broken blind, and a window missing a handle. The towels were bleach-stained, the room only had one mug for two adults which spunds silly but when you habent had any sleepbecause of the noise and you both want a coffee its a little frustrating, and there was no hot water — we had to wait around 15 to 20 minutes before each use before it became usable in both shower and sink. Noise throughout the hotel was awful. We could hear footsteps, plumbing, running water, and noise from surrounding rooms all night, making it almost impossible to sleep. Accessibility was also poor. The only disabled toilet in the main hotel area was out of service with no alternative available, which was unacceptable. To make matters worse, we were only informed about a £50 per person security deposit the day before arrival, resulting in an unexpected £100 charge. We were also told cash payments were accepted, yet staff repeatedly claimed they had no change available. We submitted a complaint through Booking.com and received no response, forcing us to chase the matter further ourselves. Overall, despite the lovely wedding, the hotel stay itself was stressful, uncomfortable, and nowhere near the standard expected. Definitely not worth the money.

Lovely room and very tastefully decorated. Staff excellent and overall extremely comfortable.

The bathroom. The shower in the bath was extremely difficult to get in to. I use showers in baths a lot but the positioning and shape of bath was awful. And cheap small towels and hairdryer which was also nowhere near the mirror.

it was ok, the walls were a bit thin, the room lighting was ok, but the only mirror was high on the wall, and in a dark spot, so difficult to use for a short person! Breakfast was fine, not a huge selection, but more than enough, good sausages . Didn’t use the spa or pool, but could see them in use, the gardens were well tended and pleasant to walk through

I rarely leave negative reviews, but after giving management multiple opportunities to respond to our complaints and being completely ignored, I feel I have no choice but to share our experience. We stayed here following our wedding, which should have been a special and stress-free occasion, but unfortunately several issues caused unnecessary upset and disappointment. Firstly, we were never informed that the pink room was available for us to use to get ready in. Had we known this beforehand, it would have avoided a huge amount of stress on the morning of the wedding. Instead, I had to carry dresses and multiple items downstairs myself whilst also caring for my baby. There were also several cleanliness and maintenance issues in the bridal suite. The toilet was not flushing properly, the jacuzzi bath jets had an unpleasant smell suggesting poor maintenance, and there was visible dust on the bed, blinds and fan. One of the wall lights also had cracked glass, which was concerning. The room itself was extremely cold and uncomfortable, and breakfast was another disappointment. We were initially brought a cold breakfast consisting only of an egg sandwich, crisps, yoghurt and water, and my maid of honour then had to go downstairs herself to collect our cooked breakfast. What makes this more frustrating is that the staff themselves — including Chloe, Sam and the bar staff — were lovely throughout the wedding, and we genuinely appreciated their kindness and support during the event itself. However, despite formally raising these concerns afterwards, neither myself nor members of our wedding party who also complained via Booking.com have received any response from management at all. The lack of communication, accountability and customer care after such an important event has been extremely disappointing. I sincerely hope these issues are addressed for future guests, especially for couples booking such important occasions.

Beautiful entrance hall, lovely grounds at front. Very nice room. I was just using this as somewhere to sleep, so didn't eat here or try the spa facilities. Just a headsup that Guildford Manor is four and a half miles from Guildford, which as I was on a walking holiday, I should have checked when booking. Perfect if you're looking for peace and quiet tho.
