"All around excellent "

10.0

Really enjoyed this hotel! It's on a quiet back street and fairly close to the Chepe train station. Saw one review suggesting a shuttle. I would respond that taxis abound and the proprietor was extremely helpful in getting early rides scheduled for us. The complementary breakfast was excellent. This feels more like a B&B than a hotel, but a great experience overall.

"Dismal experience"

4.0

We had booked this hotel on their own website about 6 weeks before our stay. Each hotel room is different, and you select the one you want based on its appearance and price. On Sept. 7 we received a confirmation directly from the hotel for the room we had selected. When we arrived as planned on the evening of Nov. 19, the man at the desk informed us that his daytime colleague at the desk had given our room to someone else, and that we had been put in another room. No explanation, and no apology. In fact, he said that if it had been his fault he would apologize, but since it was not his fault he would not apologize. The room he put us in (the only remaining one) was right by the front door so you heard everyone entering and leaving the hotel. The only window in the room was right on the street. The lamp next to the bed did not work. The shower had mold growing in it. The bathroom had no drinking glasses, nor any place to hang things (no towel racks or hooks). The room was very cold, but it did have a wall heater. Unfortunately either the heater didn't work, or the young man who was the overnight clerk didn't know how to operate it. An extra blanket was found. We asked the young man for a map of the city and some information on the tourist bus we'd heard about, but he was unable to find either of those. (We don't blame him, but lack of training from management.) In the morning, the new desk clerk was very pleasant and prepared a nice breakfast for us, and then helped us get a taxi to take us to the airport. However, the overall experience of staying at this hotel was most unpleasant, from not honoring the reservation they had confirmed, to the unapologetic attitude of staff, to the condition of the room they put us in, to the lack of information available from staff. We would not recommend this hotel to anyone.

"Sorry we only stayed one night"

10.0

The hotel and staff were great. We arrived late from the train. We were checked in and given directions to a very nice restaurant and after eating we walked to the cathedral. We liked Chihuahua very much and now want to return at a later date so we can enjoy the city and the hotel more thoroughly. The room was nicely decorated, the bed comfortable and the shower and A/C great.

"San Felipe El Real, chihuahua, Mexico"

6.0

Pros- very nice and helping staff- we took the El Chepe so we stayed for 1 night and then left our stuff at the hotel and returned for 1 more night upon returned from the Copper Canyon. The staff watched for our luggage while we were traveling (for 3 days) with no obligations to stay for additional night from our end and without payment. The staff was always patient and attentive and answered all our questions and recommended on activities and places in the city. Good, generous and healthy breakfast. Very close to the Chepe station and the airport. Cons- rooms not very clean The decor is very old and not in a good condition First night- the shower head didn't work well because it was blocked with fur; second night there was bad smell from the toilette. The guy from the front desk offered us to move to another room but as it was already late, and this was our last night, we decided to stay in our room. He promised that someone will come to check the smell but no one came. Wi fi didn't work part of the time. Also the guy from the front desk promised someone will come to check this but no one came.

"A cute, eclectic hotel"

8.0

This small hotel, like most we visited on our trip through central Mexico, is more like a B&B. With a choice of which bedroom we wanted to stay in and a large dining room table to share while eating breakfast, it was cute, quaint, a bit rustic (in a good way) and perfect for our one night stay. The first host we met didn't speak english, but with a quick Google Translate search, she was able to understand we needed a breakfast at 5am and they happily accommodated. The morning host was happy and helpful and spoke english well. I would recommend this as a choice for a stay-over before heading to the train to Copper Canyon. Caution - it is hard to find so have the address handy!

"Beautiful place to stay"

Beautiful place to stay in Chihuahua with a great location and very charming rooms. Nice breakfast is served in a cozy living room and they have a nice patio. Unfortunately they forgot to pick us up from the airport... So no 5 star rating..

"Wonderful secluded place!"

10.0

This is a great hideout in downtown Chihuahua city. It's safe, it's beautiful, it's quiet and peaceful. The breakfast is simple fare but the company is great. We arrived later than expected but we were still met at the door and shown to our room. High ceilings, bathtub and hot water... It's not like a fancy hotel in the US, but it's charming, aesthetically pleasing and comfortable. The other thing is that locals stay here as well, so when you're at the breakfast table with your eggs and coffee, all made to order and served when you're ready, you can have interesting conversations about life, politics, history... Convenient location as you're in walking distance of the plaza and the market and other nice places to eat... I'd stay here again for sure...
