San Felipe el Real

It is a restored historic house, very quiet, with attentive staff. The front door is kept locked a lot of the time, including overnight, so it is an especially secure place. There are no stairs which is unusual in a historic building. The room featured high old wood ceilings and tile floors. There was a mixture of old and new, such as an old sewing machine cabinet made into a table by adding a modern glass top. There was an iron tub with feet containing a good shower and the bed was comfortable. Our room did not have a window, but a ceiling vent with either just outside air or evaporative cooling kept us comfortable. There was a wall heater for times of the year one might need it. The closet was small. Breakfast was courteous and right on time, but was nothing more than coffee, juice, fresh fruit, dry cereal or toast, and yogurt. We had expected a full breakfast. It is a few blocks walk to the city center but just a block or two to the Vivabus. This is a new system with a designated bus lane and enclosed stops in the center of the street. During business hours it runs every 5 minutes. The bus runs through the city center as well as to the main bus station.

San Felipe el Real is conveniently located near down town, but far enough to miss the congestion and noise. We enjoyed the friendliness of the owners, Pearl, Daniel and Luz, and their ability to make one feel welcome. It is not a pretentious place but it has possibilities. We stayed in room #1 which can be very noisy as guests walk in the immediate hall when they come into the hotel, often carrying on conversations with other or on their phone and we were woken up two different nights. The other rooms seemed to be far from enough from the entrance and may not suffer this problem. The hotel is small and pleasant. I had no problem snf would stay there again...

This lovely old home converted to a quaint hotel was a great find. Old creeky floors and a nice big bathroom was wonderful.

It is pretty well located close to the city centre. It is an old house with few rooms turned into a boutique hotel. Decoration is nice including several antique objects. It was clean and staff friendly to assist.

En general bien, un hotel antiguo cin muchos detalles de su estilo antiguo. Me gusto!

This hotel seems to have been somebody’s home. We arrived in the dark and there was nothing available to eat or drink and our room was off the small courtyard. The room was definitely quirky with a huge bed with bed clothes that weren’t really big enough but lovely antique furniture and an old stove and gas fire. I have no idea if either worked. None of the lights had all the bulbs working, which was a shame because the room needed better lighting. The bathroom was big and modern bits but it was impossible to keep the water from the shower actually in the bath. It went everywhere. And we didn’t know if loo paper was to go in the bin, which was NOT next to the loo, or could be flushed. Breakfast was adequate.

A gteat location for exploring downtown. Efficient and friendly staff

We enjoyed two nights in this renovated 19th century home. There are six rooms arranged around an inner courtyard. Each room is furnished with period furniture and accessories, but each has a modern bathroom. A delicious hot breakfast is provided between 8 and 10 AM, cooked to order. The hotel is located a short walk from the main plaza, the Cathedral, and several other sites. The host is very helpful and friendly. Recommended!
