"Pleasant hotel in great location, but lacks character and style"

The location is fantastic, views out to sea( weather permitting) and south west path a 10 min walk from the hotel. Food was nice and staff pleasant.

The hotel is oddly laid out. To have a drink out front with the views you go thru reception, down some steps on to a handful of benches. There are some odd rules - put a permit sticker in your car, book a time for breakfast. The bar and the pool/spa area are characterless and windowless. The whole could be top notch in the location, with a bit of thought and design

"One of the best in recent memory, will be back soon!"

We arrived for a long weekend and parked and then were able to forget about the car. Jenny and the team offered us amazing breakfasts, delicious evening meals and our biggest challenge was whether to turn left or right on the coastal path just in front of the hotel... Amazing walks with the dog along the coastline, finished with a brisk dip in the sea made for some amazing days... :D

I was very happy to 'slow down' and just enjoy the vibe while the team looked after us, but for those still running on 'London' time I could see a little frustration occasionally with the pace of service...

"Relaxing stay"

Location stunning, once you manage to get there. Excellent food at breakfast. Rooms are spacious.

The hotel is very pro dogs. For example while eating our amazing breakfast in the dining room we counted two couples without dogs in there and 6 couples or families with dogs. There was occasional barking and fights. We do not mind dogs but having them in the dining room spoilt the breakfast for us. The last 500 metres to the hotel from already narrow Devon lanes is even more narrow. I would not suggest staying there if you are not very confident in your reversing skills should you meet someone coming the other way.

Excellent stay, the hotel is in the most beautiful and peaceful location. The staff were all exceptional and friendly and couldn't do anymore for you.
