Nothing fancy -just a clean and safe place to stay

A warm, welcoming experience from start to finish. The staff were outstanding, the room cozy and spotless. Great breakfast buffet and good coffee too. Would happily return and recommend to friends.

I stayed at AmericInn Monmouth for a weekend trip and was very happy with my choice. The hotel was spotless, and the room looked freshly cleaned and smelled great. The staff were kind, professional, and responsive to every need.

Our recent stay at this hotel was extremely disappointing and frustrating from start to finish. The bed in our original room was in terrible condition, with metal springs poking almost through the mattress, making it impossible to sleep comfortably. The refrigerator in the room was also non-functional. Despite reporting the issue, the so-called "fix" did nothing, and I was forced to store my diabetic medication in a cooler of ice for two days—completely unacceptable for anyone, let alone someone with medical needs. After two days of inconvenience, we were finally moved to another room. Adding to our frustration, we were charged an early check-in fee, even though we were told beforehand that it would be waived. The breakfast was another low point. We chose not to eat any of it due to its concerning appearance. The eggs were runny, the sausage appeared reheated, and the serving pans looked like they hadn’t been washed in days. It was unhygienic and unappetizing. Cleanliness was clearly not a priority. We found candy scattered on the floor when we first entered the room, which raised immediate concerns about the thoroughness of housekeeping. The entire building, including the rooms, had a musty, damp odor that strongly suggested moisture damage and possible mold. The AC units smelled like mildew, and we noticed cracks around the wall-mounted units, allowing moisture and outside air to seep in—creating both a comfort and health concern. Communication was also an issue. Two staff members had such heavy accents that it was difficult to understand them during check-in and when we tried to resolve our problems. Clear communication is a basic expectation in hospitality and this created even more frustration during our stay. The manager was yelling at one Female employee putting her in tears. To top everything off, when we reviewed our final bill, we noticed inconsistent daily rates, which made our charges unpredictable and confusing. When we asked we could not get a proper answer because the two people at the counter spoke poor English. This hotel has serious issues with cleanliness, maintenance, customer service, and transparency. Unfortunately, we will not be returning and cannot recommend it to others. This is a 2 star hotel not a 4 star.

Got to the hotel at 5:30 and checked in. Got to our room and it was 90 degrees inside. We turned on the AC and left after not getting to relax. We came back after 4 hours to discover the room had barely cooled down. The whole hotel was hot like the AC wasn't keeping up, and that is because they keep the units off in the rooms not being used. We didn't want to go to another hot room so we spoke with the front desk person. The front desk person said the new owner Harry would give us a full refund on Monday since the room was never used. I emailed the new owner Harry and he is refusing to give me a refund. He claims that we just left and never spoke to the front desk. He claims this is standard Windham policy. He also claims that we sat on the room for four hours with no AC. This man is the most condescending person I have ever spoken to. So beware that this hotel has gone down hill and is under new ownership. The rooms stink, carpets dirty, the new cheap coffee machine is dirty. These people are turning the conference rooms into their personal apartments so they can live on the property according to the gossip around town. Hope Harry knows this is a small town and word travels fast. Worst experience at a Wyndham ever. This means we spent $400 on Saturday night for 2 hotel rooms at 2 different hotels. The Fairfield in Galesburg had ice cold rooms, great breakfast, super clean.
