Hampton Inn Petersburg - Southpark Mall

Bathroom paint/ceiling was cracked/messy, etc. I also didn't like that they advertised free parking on the website, but when you get there to check in they've got a sign saying they will charge you for parking. I NEVER stay at a hotel that charges for parking. Had I'd known I would have NEVER booked the room. But I had no options when I got there. That really put a sour taste in my mouth about this hotel. I won't be going back. Nice hotel though. I just didn't like the old "bait and switch."

The layout gives the room a lot more space. Haven't been in a Hampton Inn in years. This one was nice and had the amenities wanted. However the hallways to the room were sweltering! It's a hot, long walk to the room.

The staff was friendly and ready to help in any way. The hotel itself needs repairs. One of two elevators was down during our 4 night stay, which made for significant elevator traffic. The washing machine on the second floor was broken. Several tiles by the pool were covered in mold.The pool room was so hot, it made it uncomfortable to be there. Our room smelled musty. The water pressure in the shower was very soft. The garbage can on our floor next to the soda machine was overflowing with trash that smelled. One bed had a mattress protector for bed bugs, the other did not. The windows were smeared with handprints when we arrived. The garbage cans in our room were rusted and disgusting. The location was perfect for us and the staff lovely, but we will not return.

The staff was amazing, very, very nice. But housekeeping needs an overhaul! Piled up trash for days, no towels, only maid service every other day, only 1 out of 2 elevators worked. The 1 elevator that worked was disgusting, dirty and all scraped up. No decorating at all in the rooms.
