Room was clean and well presented.

The bar staff were struggling to cope with the demand on Bank Holiday Monday. I thought some needed more training and maybe there should have been more staff on duty.. A smile and a kind greeting goes a long way in your initial impressions. I told a member of staff that we would sit outside for a drink to peruse the menus as it was a hot day. Another member of staff said we should have been in the restaurant. They were obviously under pressure, but there was no consistency. I asked for water and it never came. Also in a formal dining room, you expect the staff to be dressed appropriately. Three things on the menu were sold out. On a Bank Holiday weekend that didn't seem to be good planning and organisation. It was a shame the food was excellent and the accommodation, but maybe the owners of the hotel are cutting back on staff and training.

"Lovely experience"

8.0

I had booked the hotel at the last minute without any research, my fault that the Sea Marge Hotel is a very dog friendly hotel and I am allergic to dogs ,lol .However I was ok. I loved the area and would love to stay at the Sea Marge again but it’s too risky for me ,I enquired about the lodges they have but none were pet free. The Breakfast is superb and we were well looked after by Robert and Harry all the staff were friendly and lovely nothing too much trouble ,Sophie is a Gem . I wish I could stay again ..thankyou for our lovely stay.

"A wonderful place to stay by the sea in Overstrand will definitely return."

10.0

The team at this hotel were exceptionally welcoming and friendly. The location is excellent with sea views and many lounge areas to relax. There is also a lovely outside seating area, Enjoyed a wonderful meal at the hotel restaurant which had some great menu choices. The room we had (no 3 ) whilst not being one with a sea view was a very good size with a nicely decorated bathroom and comfortable bed

The only thing that I didn`t like was the fact that I was only staying for one night, wished it coud have been longer

"Splendid stay in a historic seaside mansion"

8.0

Appreciated the spacious room, sumptuous super king-size bed, and amazing sea views over sweeping grounds. The location was peaceful & quiet set away from the road and the staff friendly and helpful. The historic mansion was glorious and we loved the delft fireplace tiles. Stunning location away from the road, beautiful gardens leading straight onto the coastal path. A real gem!

Accessible plug sockets either side of the bed would have been helpful. Room was quite warm even with the heating off and windows open. Coffee cups too large for coffee machine, decaffeinated options and plant milk/vg biscuit options would have been appreciated. Appreciated the toiletries, some conditioner would have been welcomed.

"Highly recommend, good food and service."

10.0

Lovely room, bright and spacious, very friendly staff, in lovely grounds overlooking the sea. Dog friendly, could eat in the bar with the dog just not in the restaurant. Access to the beach close by. First night booked a table in the restaurant, great service, lovely food and wine, very impressed. Would highly recommend and hope to return again.

"A lovely stay with a Seaview"

8.0

We had a very nice room with a great sea view.It was Room 2 and the bath was a jacuzzi with rain shower over the bath.We dined in the restaurant and had some fantastic local crab as main course. There was also a lovely, eye catching bar, as well as seating and dining outside. At the bottom end of the lawn, there were steps down to the beach and whilst we used them they were in a shocking state of repair and could be seen as very dangerous All in all, we had a fine stay at the Sea Marge, with all the staff showing kindness and friendliness

"Good effort, needs to be more organised."

6.0

The hotel building itself is very well kept. We were given "the cottage." The only issues we had with the room were the very lumpy and uncomfortable mattress topper and we were put in the furthest room away from the dining room. Mobility wasn't the issue for us, its just the impersonal experience of being given a code to get into the hotel from a seperate building. Aside from this, we had the view of the kitchen window and dismantled scaffolding which was placed on raised decking to the right of our room. There was also a caravan next to the scaffolding behind a wooden fence. I don't know why they decided to park a caravan on site or whether they were using the green as storage, but it's questionable why you would put scaffolding and other items next to a guest's room. Looking on google earth/maps, its unclear whether "the cottage" was converted from being a storage shed building into a hotel room. It's just a very mysterious place to put one. The hotel staff were hard working, although it seemed as though a lot of young inexperienced staff were given an old stately building to look after. From my perspective this appears to be a management issue, where staff were working hard but didn't particularly know what was going on. The general vibe seemed a bit unorganised on the Friday and Saturday morning. Upon arrival when we were given the room key we were told by the trainee that it was on the 2nd floor of the main building, we searched the rest of the floors to see where our room was, we were soon directed by office staff in the right direction. We were later informed that the trainee didn't receive a tour of the building, which I thought was a vital piece of information management need to give all staff upon induction, therefore I don't believe she was at fault for this mistake. Outside tables need to be cleared a bit quicker. There needs to be a member of staff present in the restaurant at breakfast, they seemingly disappear for 20-30 mins and leave the breakfast room to itself, which is fine for privacy but there's no one there to fine tune anything. Again small things, but I think to improve the overall guest experience, those things need to be knocked on the head. Props to the Chefs for the great food and Estates team who have kept the main building and garden itself in very good condition. Aside from the mattress topper issue, the room was very clean upon arrival. Loved the shower, great temperature control. Although Overstrand is a 5 min drive from Cromer, the location is very quiet and peaceful.
