Hotel Mision Catavina

Great on site restaurant.

Spectacular to see the incredible sunset in the desert and wake up early to sunrise. Thankfully, the hotel served breakfast - the well-regarded cafe across the street was closed. The pool was a big disappointment, murky with dead leaves and algae. Nice to spend time in the bar at night, but it was not ok for the bartender to not have enough change so I had to tip about triple what I otherwise would have - kind of felt like highway robbery.

This is potentially a great stopover on trip down Baja but the rooms and hotels could use some updating. Nothing elaborate but internet service and pools were sketchy at best

Arriving in the pitch black desert evening can be daunting. Thankfully, I found a nearby police car and the officers were kind enough to escort me to the hotel to which I had almost arrived but was getting confused (tired from a very long drive) finding. Reception was polite but not overly friendly, again, I was tired and stressed out. Location Location Location! The amazing location as well as the authentic mission style of the hotel make up the establishments greatest attribute. It is quite an experience. The room was clean and very spacious, unfortunately with a strong moth ball like and stale "odor of old" that was hard to get used to for someone, i.e. yours truly, with a sensitive nose. The room looked out over the surrounding desert terrain to which I awoke the next morning as everything was bathed in mist and stillness. Service at the restaurant was very attentive and friendly, however, don't expect too much as far as quality of cuisine is concerned. The old mission style of the grounds, with inner court yards, lots of artwork, artifacts as well as curiosities, is very interesting and appealing, and it is quite amazing to discover the stark beauty of desert nature. All in all, hotel staff were very friendly and accommodating. and the presence of sweet and friendly dogs and cats was very appreciated by this animal lover. One thing though, that was very unpleasant was the terrible stench surrounding the hotel lavatories. Old sceptic system?Hotel should know.

Very nice hotel. Good service at the hotel restaurant. Excellent location for travellers.

I choose to stay at this hotel albeit it is a bit older as it is always well maintained and the staff here are superb. The dining room, pool and exterior premises make this a most relaxing place to get a good night's rest along the Baja journey.

Place was nice but wifi was very poor but being in the location it is in it was okay
