Hotel Mision Catavina

Best place ever! Great place to stop in for the night or use as a base to explore the area. Very quiet, it has a real remote desert feel. Large rooms and very clean. Nice pool in the courtyard. It is however quite remote and there are No gas stations in the area. Right in the mountains. Super cool. Restaurant on the premises. Really good food. Would stay again

Hotel Mision Catavina was a bit of a mixed bag. There was no sign announcing it as you drove through and when we did finally pull in, there was a prominent sign saying "Caution, The Company is not responsible for total or partial theft of your vehicle," ~ it did not generate a feeling of safety nor welcome. The check in was pleasant, the room large & clean, and we took a lovely afternoon hike nearby. After that we went to dinner at the hotel restaurant. We were one of several diners int he dimly lit place but our waiter seemed nice enough. He took our drink order before we saw the menu, then we placed our orders and settled back to wait with our margaritas. Our waiter then brought out the usual chips & salsa along with a small dish of guacamole which we did not order. He set them down and saw us glancing at each other ~ then asked us, you do like chips & salsa, yes? We said yes and figured the guacamole was included then. We both ordered the barbacoa tacos which came lukewarm & doused in sauce. But we were hungry & tired so we ate them, then asked for the check. We knew the tacos were $140 pesos each so were staggered when we saw our bill. It was $938 pesos for 2 margaritas & 2 barbacoa tacos. I have a photo of the receipt: we were charged $100 pesos for the guac we didn't order, $462 pesos for 2 margs, and $305 pesos for the tacos which were $140 apiece. Highway robbery for very mediocre food. Did not return for breakfast.

I have stayed at this property since the 70s, and it is constantly being improved. The staff is courteous and friendly.

Its peaceful and great staff that remember us year after year!

What a beautiful place in a gorgeous desert surroundings

Decent hotel in the middle of nowhere

This is a nice hotel, in fact the only and nicest hotel for a hundred miles. It is starting to show signs of wear, but is a welcom respite after many hours driving. The restaurant and bar are quite decent, the rooms are clean, the shower is hot. The surrounding area is clean. There is no wifi or cell service there, and even the paid wifi I bought did not work. As a stopover on a long journey, its still a very nice place to stay.

This hotel is unique and thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this little town.

Always a welcome respite in the middle of an incredible landscape!

It was like a little resort in the middle of no where. Didn’t like the limited one hr of internet and the TV didn’t work The staff were all very nice.
