The King and Prince Beach & Golf Resort

Resort is in need of a total overhaul. 2 bedroom suites very dated. Had dinner at Echo first night. Never again. Waited 45 minutes for our drink order then another 45 minutes for dinner. Wait staff very overwhelmed as were bartenders. Pool service was also lacking. 1 hour for a chicken salad wrap. Although they did comp it. But again understaffed. Beach over crowded since it is open to public. I don't believe they monitor the pool either as people were arriving in golf carts and using pool. Should be meant for guests only. Hard to get chairs everyday. Front desk not very helpful. Overall just a bad experience. Won't come back sorry to say.

The restaurant staff are super nice. Front desk and concierge folks are good Pool mixed drinks are weak. The big pool has sandy bottom and lots of bugs floating on top with oil scum So poor pool upkeep. Housekeeping must not use a checklist or have supervised check. A pile of creepy toenails on balcony floor suggests they don’t vacuum balcony after each stay. No coffee maker in room and coffee shop not open until 7am. Bed was very comfortable Ocean view and sunrise delightful Access to beach not longer available from pool area?? Could be a solid 4 star with a bit more effort .

Room needed updating. Carpet was bunching, trip hazard. Bathroom was a bit outdated.

Our last visit was a couple years ago. It was not great, but after speaking with the manager after we left, he assured me that it was under new management and that things were going to be different. We decided to give it another try this past weekend. Big mistake! I called before making the reservation to make sure that they had pool service already started for the season. The person I spoke with assured me that servers come directly to your pool chair to take your order. Great! Booked it for three nights! There was a wedding happening at the hotel that weekend. Saturday morning, the pool was absolutely packed! They did have three servers working, but it was not enough. They have blocked off the sea shack so that you cannot walk up to it at the window and order. So what happens? People just stand there blocking the servers inside and place their order right there. So the servers basically never make it out to make the rounds to take orders. The second day, less people, but yet only one server working. We felt terrible for her! I called the front desk at 12:30 to complain about this. The person who answered, said she would call the echo manager and have it taken care of. I told her that we had not even seen the server for an hour and a half since we placed our first order. A pool attendant walked by, and we asked if we could place an order. He said he was not a server, but would take our order because he was trying to help her. We placed our order in one hour later still did not have our drinks or food. Finally flagged down the real server and our order had never been put in. Called the front desk again, and asked to speak to the hotel manager. They did comp our final night, but we were so done with this place that we just left a night early anyway. They used to play music at the pool and it had a fun tropical feel. No more. They used to have comfortable couches and chairs under the pergola at the pool to sit in the shade. When we asked why they were just lounge chairs lined up under there, we were they removed those for the weekend to use for the wedding. The pool was filthy both days. Lots of debris and either vomit or cocktails floating on top. Multiple people asked to have it skimmed. As busy as she was, Miranda, the one and only server, was skimming the pool on Sunday. Never saw a single other hotel employee walking around to check on things except for the two young guys who were trying to help her run orders out to people. Skip this place if pool service and a clean pool are at all important to you. Also, they no longer have a direct beach access from the pool area. The access gates are padlocked and you have to walk all the way around the hotel to get out onto the beach. What in the world? Certainly didn't notice that change in the fine print anywhere and would have never booked it if I knew we couldn't even walk down to the beach without hiking around the building. We will NEVER be back!

Fire alarm went off at 11:20PM And I couldn't get to sleep until early morning.

I wanted a last minute getaway on the beach and that’s what I got.

For 1 I didn’t like they couldn’t match online rates. Had no choice but to book thru a 3rd party while I sat at the lobby bar. And speaking of the bar, seriously understaffed. When I finally received the bartenders attention he brought my drink but left the 2 empty, dirty glasses from the previous customer still sitting in front of me along with their ticket. He definitely needed some help but held it down best he could. When I said something to the front desk they just laughed it off instead of trying to call for someone to help him out. The room was fine. The placement of the tv was not comfortable since you could only lay in one spot on the bed to be able to see it. The floors in the bathroom weren’t totally cleaned. I paid almost $400 for the one night. Amazing what hotels can charge now and still just be “ok”.

We came in for happy hour and were pleasantly surprised by the warm welcome we got from Derrell in the bar. When we told him we were celebrating our 75th birthdays, he treated us to a couple of desserts. Then we went into the dining room in our server. Joanna was absolutely awesome. We thoroughly enjoyed our time there. When you talk about southern hospitality this is a fine example. Both Derrell and Joanna went above and beyond for us.

Direct access to the beach . No way to rinse sand off feet.

While the location, physical pool area, bar and lobby were nice our room was nowhere near the expectation of a quality “resort” or even a modern hotel room. Our room looked every bit a hotel built in the 1930’s. It’s obvious the many owners and management companies over the years have never addressed how dilapidated these rooms are. Our room had old beat up furniture, couches, and cheap ill fitted curtains. The screen on the balcony was rusted and was torn. The bathroom was much worse. If you’re looking for a luxury experience, this is more like an old motel six offered up as some kind of historic resort.
